If you’re hailing from the Hong Kong International Airport, the easiest routes to get to Victoria Harbour are via the Lantau Highway and Airport Express lines. Another option you can take is the MTR line with cross-harbor tunnels in Tsuen Wan, Tseung Kwan O, and Tung Chung). 

As you can see, Victoria Harbour is conveniently reachable from practically anywhere because it sits right in the heart of Hong Kong. Meanwhile, if you wish to cross the harbor to do some sightseeing, we suggest you get on the Star Ferry, which has routes to Central and Tsim Sha Tsui.

Victoria Peak, aka The Peak, is one of Hong Kong’s rockstar attractions. And just as its catchy name implies, this spot is the tip-top of Hong Kong Island, so once you reach the peak, it’s literally views on views. 

The Peak is like the ultimate selfie central for visitors because it showcases various viewpoints of Kowloon, Victoria Harbour, and Hong Kong Island. 

Sunset at Victoria Peak is our favorite because during this time, it’s like the whole place flips a switch, and bam! The view transforms into this scenic nightscape that’s filled with dazzling lights from skyscrapers. 

Of course, it’s best to do a quick weather check before visiting. You see, Hong Kong’s weather can be a bit of a wild card – some days, it’s all clear skies, but other times, fog or clouds overcast the views. If the weather isn’t looking great, maybe save the Peak for a sunnier day.

Madame Tussauds showcases more than 100 meticulously crafted lifelike wax figures. Here, you can be up close and personal with wax figures of your favorite local and international music icons, celebrities, historical and national heroes, and so much more.

This wax figure museum is Madame Tussauds’ first branch in Asia, so it’s a nice addition to your travel bucket list.  

What’s good about Madame Tussauds is that they keep things fresh. Occasionally, the museum rolls out the red carpet for new exhibitions and wax figures. New and upcoming stars are added every year, and some old figures are updated or replaced.

  • The best transportation option to Madame Tussauds is via the Peak Tram. However, there can be long waiting times, especially during peak season.

The Avenue of Stars is a shoreline promenade that offers killer views of the harbor, skyline, and our favorite sparkly show, the Symphony of Lights. 

Here, you can relax and spend a chill afternoon with your friends because the reopened promenade features more seats, shade, water fountains, and even a place to get refreshments. 

Plus, it’s centrally situated in a spot where locals and tourists alike flock. You see, it’s within walking distance of popular attractions like Tsim Sha Tsui, IFC Mall, and Central’s Harbourfront Promenade, so you can spend your whole day exploring the area. 

Pro tip:

  • If you plan to take the MTR to visit the Avenue of Stars, hit up East Tsim Sha Tsui Station or Tsim Sha Tsui Station and go through Exit J. Meanwhile, if you’re coming from Central, it’s more convenient to hop on the Star Ferry from the pier in front of IFC Mall.  

Hong Kong Observation Wheel

Once you walk along Victoria Harbour, one of the first things that will probably catch your eye is the giant Ferris wheel by the harborfront – the Hong Kong Observation Wheel.

This isn’t your average Ferris wheel because it’s 197 feet tall and one of the largest and tallest Ferris wheels in the whole of Asia. Hong Kong Observation Wheel is basically Hong Kong’s version of the London Eye.

This huge Ferris wheel has 42 air-conditioned gondolas that can each seat up to a squad of eight passengers. But hey, if you prefer to go solo and enjoy the ride and scenic views alone, you can also opt for their private gondolas.

  • To make the most of your visit to the Hong Kong Observation Wheel, we recommend you check out the AIA Vitality Park located at its base. This park features an open lawn and offers free wellness classes like yoga, swing dancing, and kickboxing.

Cruise Restaurant & Restaurants is a stunning rooftop restaurant where you can enjoy fresh and seasonal Asian cuisine as well as craft cocktails while taking in the panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and Kowloon. 

Some of their signature dishes to try at least once are the Chicken Satay, Changs Pork Belly Ssam, and Rangers Valley Wagyu Ribeye.  

Aside from the fancy outdoor rooftop bar, this restaurant is also famous for its modern and stylish interior and decor. During the day, you can go here for a sunny al fresco four-course lunch or relaxing afternoon drinks, while in the evening, you can grab a cocktail and just enjoy the vibe and cool tunes.

Paper Moon

Paper Moon is a well-known Milan restaurant that has brought a slice of Italian cuisine to Harbour City. 

And when we say “slice,” it means a little bit of everything because this restaurant’s menu runs from soups, salads, house-made pasta, grilled meats, antipasti, seafood platters, and desserts! 

Paper Moon offers both indoor and outdoor dining spaces, but we recommend you dine at their outdoor terrace if you want the views of the Hong Kong skyline and the West Kowloon Cultural District to serve as your backdrop while you savor your meal.

  • Sweet tooth alert! Desserts are always in demand here, so we suggest you try their best-sellers – Tiramisu Paper Moon and Pana Cotta Con Lamponi.

Harbour City is a retail wonderland boasting over 700 stores and services, 50 restaurants, three hotels, and a bunch of entertainment outlets, including movie theaters, an art gallery, and an observation deck. 

This massive shopping complex covers an area of over two million square feet, and it’s split into five zones – Ocean Terminal, Ocean Centre, Star Annex, Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel Arcade, and Gateway Arcade.   

The mall is also a major hub for flagship stores as well as local and international brands, so it’s definitely a one-stop hotspot for all your shopping needs. 

Pro tip:

  • If it’s your first time exploring this mall, make sure to swing by the customer service center and grab a directory and a map. This shopping complex is massive, so you might find yourself lost without those!

Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry

Riding the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry is a must-do experience if you’re in Victoria Harbour. This scenic escape is perfect for those who want to catch a glimpse of Hong Kong’s famous landmarks and attractions. 

Our favorite route runs between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui. If you wish to take Instagram-worthy pictures and reels, we recommend this route because it features the lush green views of Victoria Peak and the sweeping views of Lantau Island and Victoria Harbour. 

We always take the bottom deck to get closer and clearer views of the sea and the harbor. 

Pro tip:

  • The Star Ferry is always packed with throngs of people, so it’s best to check out the departure schedules before you visit. Also, rush morning and evening hours are from 7 AM to 9:30 AM and 4 PM to 7 PM. 

Hong Kong Museum of Art

Hong Kong Museum of Art is a 10,000-square-meter exhibition space with 12 art galleries that highlight more than 17,000 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, calligraphy, ceramics, and other Chinese art and antique collections.

Some of the permanent exhibitions you can see in this museum are various collections of Modern and Hong Kong Art, China Trade Art, Chinese Antiquities, and Chinese Painting and Calligraphy. 

Apart from that, the museum also hosts an array of temporary exhibitions throughout the year. The exhibitions usually cover different styles and topics revolving around contemporary art installations, interactive arts and displays, traditional Chinese art, and more. 

Pro tip:

  • No advance booking is required to visit the Hong Kong Museum. And guess what? A free guided tour is available for individual visitors. However, the museum can only accommodate a maximum of 30 people per tour schedule, so make sure to come as soon as you can since it’s on a first-come, first-served basis.
