The 12 Stores with the Best Bagels in Hong Kong (NYC Would Be Proud!)
Everybody knows the best bagels are in New York. There’s even a myth that they’re so good there because of the water that boils them.
However, as a foodie, I know a couple of bagel spots in Hong Kong that can easily rival the ones in the Big Apple. The bagels from these spots have the same rich texture, delicious fillings, and soft insides that make each bite better than the last.
So, for a taste of that typical Manhattan afternoon, you might want to check these places first before booking that flight.
R&R Bagels

Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
We absolutely love this coffee shop in Central! One of our favorite orders is the bacon jam BLT on a whole-grain bagel. The sweet and savory blend of bacon jam with fresh lettuce and tomato is superb.
We also love their fresh fruit bagel that’s topped with strawberries, cream cheese, and a drizzle of honey. If you love more flavors and texture to your bagel, you really can’t go wrong with this.
By the way, seating is limited, so you may want to line up early if you want to secure a nice spot. You can have the meal to go as well, but dining in gives you the chance to enjoy their delicious brunch offerings too.
Bagels Alley

Operating Hours: Monday – Saturday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Sunday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
One of my personal favorites at Bagels Alley is the classic everything bagel with its chewy texture. I like it with the Flying Globber, which has tender chicken breast and fresh veggies – perfect if you want a filling meal.
The smoked salmon bagel is an amazing runner-up. The salmon was soft and fresh, complemented perfectly by the crisp onions and smooth cream cheese. Personally, I think it could use a few more capers but it’s still delicious as is!
If you’re in the mood for something vegetarian, get their ‘avocado & salsa’ bagel. It’s fresh and flavorful and pairs well with their amazing coffee for a quick breakfast or light lunch.
Schragels
Website: https://schragels.com/
Address: 104 Jervois Street, Sheung Wan, Central, Hong Kong

The ambiance at Schragels is just what you need to relax and enjoy a meal. It’s cozy and inviting, making it a nice place to catch up with friends or just enjoy some quiet time.
When it comes to the menu, the Egg ‘n Cheese bagel sandwich is delicious, but the Turkey Reuben is the go-to – it’s on another level! Their Loxy Lady salmon bagel is a must-try too, with fresh ingredients that burst with flavors.
For those looking for something lighter, the Whitefish bagel with salad is a great starter. And while you’re there, don’t miss out on the Schrage Rolls – they’re crispy on the outside and wonderfully cheesy and meaty on the inside.
Blendit
Website: https://blendit.hk/
Address: 73 Lai Chi Kok Road, Lai Chi Kok Rd, Prince Edward, Hong Kong
Contact Details: +852 5334 0188
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
One of the things that surprised us when we first went to Blendit was how delicious their fresh bagel was! Unlike other pre-packaged foods we were used to, this bagel had a distinct flavor and texture that won us over.
Another thing to try is the Blueberry Bagel, where the subtle taste of blueberries makes the entire thing pop. The Hojicha Bagel also has a rich flavor that matches well with any type of tea.
If you want something more aromatic, the Cinnamon Raisin Bagel is the best choice. You’ll be greeted by the scent of cinnamon as soon as you open the package. Now that one’s better paired with a cup of coffee.
Bagel Gogo
Address: 35號 Sung Chi St, Hung Hom, Hong Kong
Contact Details: +852 6679 2716
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:30 AM – 7:00 PM | Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Specializing in New York-style bagels, Bagel Gogo delivers on the promise of a dense, floury aroma that’s true to the authentic bagel experience. Plus, it’s a great place for vegetarian alternatives for your bagel of choice.
Despite being on the smaller side, the fillings are filling and delicious. The signature beef, made with Niu Zhanli, is savory, while the chicken chop (which seems slow-cooked), bursts with juiciness.
Super BLT jalapeño bagel is also a fantastic option if you want something a little bit different. It’s grilled to perfection on the outside and smoky on the inside.

This is the best place to be if you want cute bagels that you can enjoy in a cute place. At one point, they even had bagels here that were designed like jelly cats!
One of our faves here is the cream cheese orange bagel that fills the air with the aroma of oranges. While the cream cheese could be a tad gooier, it’s still pretty good for a quick bite.
The quality of their bagels is amazing and you can definitely tell they’re baked the same day. The outside has a crispy texture and the inside is super-soft and delicious.

Get Gingerbread Bagel – the gingerbread stuffing has just the right sweetness for the soft bagel! Some may prefer it without the cream cheese, but it’s worth trying this combination if you’ve never had it before.
We also recommend the Smoked Salmon, Avocado, and Scrambled Egg Bagel. The generous fillings and tender scrambled eggs make for a satisfying bite – you can really taste every flavor at once.
Finally, the Big Brown Mushroom, Black Truffle, and Scrambled Egg Bagel is a great option for a filling bite. There are generous scrambled eggs and the sharp aroma of truffle, with juicy brown mushrooms that elevate the flavor.

Mendel’s has some of the best bacon, egg, and cheese bagels we’ve ever tried. The bacon here is always perfectly crisp and the special sauce adds an extra kick of flavor.
For something heartier, their signature smoked salmon bagel is the best choice. It’s not the thinly sliced lox variety, but rather flakier, fully-cooked salmon – and the dill whipped cream here is spot-on!
The place also offers a satisfying range of classics, including their breakfast bagels and Everything Bagels. Other than that, they have deli favorites like pastrami and scallion cream cheese.
Big Grains

If you love matcha, you can’t miss out on Big Grains’ Matcha Mochi Bagel. It has that intense matcha flavor, plus the crunchy texture and the chewy mochi filling make it so much better!
The Squid Ink & Wild Garlic Bagel is also a winner if you want that garlicky taste. But if flavorful meat is more of your thing, you may want to try their Meat Floss Bagel or their signature Beef Bagel (if you want that smoky texture!).
Finally, their Matcha Red Bean Mochi Bagel is a great choice if you want that chewy mochi feeling with a smoky texture. The sweet red beans have this hint of bitterness that is actually quite addictive.
N1 Coffee & Co

Contact Details: +852 2668 0082

Usually, we go to N1 Coffee & Co. for their top-notch coffee and cozy environment. But if it’s bagel you want, their options are pretty impressive.
The Egg Benedict Bagel paired with a Flat White is a really good pairing. All of the poached eggs we’ve had here have been perfectly done, and the creamy hollandaise sauce always adds just the right amount of richness.
Another thing worth trying is their Avocado Smashed on Bagel with Poached Eggs. The bagel has a crispy layer of white sesame seeds on top that adds an extra crunch without being hard to bite into.
It’s actually typically served with salmon, so if you prefer that, just let them know!

For bagel lovers, the blueberry bagel with fresh cream cheese at Hashtag Coffee is a must-try. It’s perfectly toasted, with that crispy texture and soft bread inside. Pair it with their cappuccino and flat white and you’re set!
Another thing you’ll love is their cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel. It’s topped with a variety of spices and sesame seeds which makes it more flavorful in every bite.
The avocado bagel is also good, with its shape making it almost too cute to eat (take a pic before taking a bite). Just be sure to arrive before 10:00 AM on weekends if you want to snag a seat!
Marouf Coffee

Operating Hours: Monday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – 9:00 PM | Friday – Sunday: 7:30 AM – 10:00 PM |
If you love a nice twist to your bagel, you’ll love Marouf’s Korean beef sesame bagel. The minced beef portions here are generous and the spicy kimchi adds a nice kick.
The smoked salmon poppy seed bagel is another highlight. It’s packed with smoked salmon, lettuce, and poppy seeds so the flavors are really spot on.
But if you want to grab something more familiar, their smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese is also a fantastic choice. Paired with salmon, butter, and lettuce, it was an unbeatable combination!
