1. Victoria Peak

Your visit to Hong Kong wouldn’t be complete without taking a peek at Victoria Peak (see what we did there?).
With it being 396 meters above sea level, this spot is quite known among locals and tourists because it offers stunning panoramic views of the Hong Kong skyline. Here, you’ll be able to see Lamma Island, Victoria Harbour, and Central specifically.
Pro tip:
The easiest way to get to Victoria Peak is to snag a ticket to the Peak Tram. To do so, you can book a trip on their website.
2. Lan Kwai Fong

Lan Kwai Fong or LKF might as well be dubbed the party capital of Hong Kong. With over 90 restaurants and bars in the area, it’s impossible to have a dull night while you’re here.
One of the reasons why we love this place is that people seem to be more relaxed here and more open to socializing with strangers. Whether you go by yourself or with a group of people, you’re bound to meet a friendly local.
Pro tip:
Here are our favorite bars in LKF: Room 309, Club Qing, and FoxGlove – all of which are speakeasy bars that offer unique experiences. If you want to stray away from touristy spots in LKF, you’d enjoy these places.
3. The Big Buddha

The Big Buddha (or Tian Tian Buddha, as we locals call it) is a popular tourist attraction – a 112 ft Buddha statue. Actually, it’s considered the 2nd-biggest seated Buddha statue in the world!
It takes about 268 steps to get to the top, though, so consider this a leg day or perhaps a way to meditate.
Pro tip:
The easiest way to get to The Big Buddha (and the most scenic one) is to ride the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car. Secure your tickets here.
4. Wisdom Path

Wisdom Path is one of the famous attractions in Lamma Island. It’s basically 38 huge wooden columns with calligraphy of the heart sutra by Jao Tsung-I.
The spot where the columns are installed promises beautiful ocean views, which combines art, philosophy, and nature all rolled into one fulfilling experience. And it can be found on the bottom of Lantau Peak, making it quite easy to access.
Pro tip:
If you’re already planning on going to The Big Buddha, might as well add the Wisdom Path to your itinerary because they’re pretty close to each other.
5. Avenue of Stars

Quite similar to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, Hong Kong’s Avenue of Stars pays tribute to the icons of the local cinema. This includes Jackie Chan, Chow Yun-Fat, and Ann Hui.
There’s even a huge statue of Bruce Lee, which easily became a famous photo spot soon after it was unveiled in 2005.
Anyway, the Avenue of Stars can be found along Victoria Harbour, so the views here are guaranteed to be stunning day and night.
Pro tip:
If you find yourself famished while you’re in the area, we suggest stopping by at Cafe Kool for a massive buffet filled with Western and Asian cuisine. It’s a quick 11 minute walk from Avenue of Stars but you can also take the train (10 minutes) or the taxi (8 minutes). Here are directions via Google Maps so you can plan with ease.
6. OZONE Rooftop Bar

Considered the highest rooftop in the world, OZONE Rooftop Bar is a must-visit place for those who are looking to experience the best of the local nightlife.
It’s located at the 118th floor of the ICC tower – which puts it 1,608 ft above sea level! The huge glass windows in the bar offer great views of the Hong Kong skyline, so you can drink your martinis in style.
Pro tips:
Aside from the gorgeous view instore for the OZONE Rooftop Bar patrons, their own concocted drinks are showstoppers. Because of that, don’t be afraid to be a little experimental with your orders.
There’s also some seats on the balcony, but their availability depends on the weather.
7. Hong Kong Observation Wheel

If you want to see Hong Kong from a different perspective, riding the Hong Kong Observation Wheel would do the trick.
The ride takes about 15 minutes and goes around for two to three times. It’s almost 200 ft. tall, which promises views of Victoria Harbour and parts of the Hong Kong skyline.
You can share the gondola with strangers or you can always book a ticket for a private gondola for a heftier price. That said, we can say it’s worth it if you’re on a romantic date!
Pro tip:
Aside from the Observation Wheel, there are also lots of things to enjoy in the vicinity like the carousel and the AIA Vitality Park Event Space where fun photoshoots, live music, etc. takes place!
8. Sky100 Observation Deck

As you can tell by now, Hong Kong is pretty proud of its gorgeous cityscape – which is why there are a lot of places where you can indulge in the stunning views. Since most of the vantage points are pretty well known among visitors, you can say that it’s really a sight to behold.
The elevator going up to the 100th floor where the Sky100 Observation Deck is can help you reach the top in a matter of 60 seconds. This is why it’s considered the swiftest double-deck elevator in Hong Kong!

We suggest buying tickets on their website beforehand if you want to snag them for a discounted price!
9. PMQ

PMQ is a stunning building that could easily rival the international architectural scene. Previously a historic structure, it has now been revamped into a modern complex filled with infinite discoveries.
Here, you can experience the local art scene by checking out design studios, joining workshops, exploring goods made by local artisans, and more.
Pro tip:
If you’re strict on budgeting your expenses while traveling, make sure to leave some for your visit to PMQ. We’re pretty sure you’re going to want to buy stuff from stores like KnitterKnutter (unique crocheted or knitted goods) and The Little Finger (expertly crafted jewelry).
10. Star Ferry

One of the top things we recommend to Hong Kong first time visitors is the Star Ferry. It will take you along Victoria Harbour, so consider it as a sightseeing tour without paying the same price for the usual tourist traps.
Pro tip:
We find it more enjoyable to ride the Star Ferry at night!
11. Hong Kong Park

Even though Hong Kong is known for being a bustling metropolis, it’s quite easy to escape from its liveliness for those looking for some downtime.
Hong Kong Park is one of the places to do that without straying too far away from the heart of the city. In the 80,000 square meters space that the park stands on, there are a lot of facilities to enjoy.
There’s the Tai Chi garden, the children’s playground, the conservatory, and more.
Pro tip:
For our money, the place you should go to in Hong Kong Park is the Aviary. Here, you can watch the birds live in their natural habitat without disrupting them. Some birds you’ll see here are barbets, bali mynas, and more.
12. Man Mo Temple

The Man Mo Temple is where the locals go to give praise to Man and Mo, god of literature and god of war respectively. Built around 1847 to 1862, it’s considered one of the city’s most precious historic buildings.
Aside from the Man Mo Temple, there are two other buildings to visit inside – Lit Shing Kung and Kung Sor. However, the Man Mo Temple is the one that attracts the most visitors.
Pro tip:
Do note that flash photography isn’t allowed within the premises. Taking photos is generally allowed except for the commemoration hall in Kung Sor.
13. Victoria Harbour

One of the most iconic spots in Hong Kong! It’s quite popular among both locals and visitors because of the stunning waterfront views it offers.
Going here during the day feels quite refreshing. However, at night, the ambiance transforms into a fusion of the Hong Kong nightlife. You’ll be amazed by the dazzling lights and how these reflect on the waters, making it one of the most photogenic places in the city.
Pro tip:
If you’re going here at night, it’s best to stay for A Symphony of Lights, a light show every 8 PM!
14. Nan Lian Garden

Your visit to Hong Kong wouldn’t be complete without seeing authentic Chinese gardens in the flesh! Which is why Nan Lian Garden is one of the top attractions in the city.
A typical Chinese garden seamlessly combines rocks, plants, water, and architecture and the Nan Lian Garden offers just that. Here, you’ll find pavilions, galleries, lily ponds, bonsai trees, and a lot more.
While it attracts quite a crowd, the ambiance stays serene and calm.
Pro tip:
Not a lot of people know this, but staying until sundown will be an unforgettable experience. The lights at the pavilion, bridge, and more will give an entirely different ambiance compared to how it is in the morning to afternoon.
15. Hong Kong Space Museum

The Hong Kong Space Museum is one of the most iconic buildings in the city. Its egg-shaped dome-like structure is what put it on the map.
When you pass by the neighborhood, it’s impossible to miss the chance of seeing what it looks like on the inside. And we’ll tell you this now – the inside is just as good as what it looks on the outside!
The reason being there are a lot of exhibitions to discover. Their permanent exhibition consists of fun, immersive designs that people of all ages would enjoy.
They also host special exhibits every now and then. We suggest checking out their website to see the current happenings.
Pro tip:
Allot at least 2 hours of your day if you plan on going to the Hong Kong Space Museum. We find that this is just ample time to explore the exhibits. However, if you want to take lots of photos, adding an extra hour wouldn’t hurt!
16. Hong Kong Disneyland

One of the most magical places in Hong Kong is, of course, Disneyland. Here, you’ll get to meet characters like the ones from Marvel, Star Wars, and of course, Disney.
Aside from the seven themed parks, there are also more than 100 amusement facilities to enjoy. Checking this off your list is a must!
Pro tip:
It’s quite easy to go to Hong Kong Disneyland because it has its own MTR line! Just head to Sunny Bay station to ride the connecting line.
17. Sai Kung Seafood Street

Our city is famous among foodies all over the globe because of the plethora of cuisines here. Once you arrive at its shores, you’ll immediately have access to dishes from around the globe.
However, if you want to try the local food scene, we suggest checking out the Sai Kung Seafood Street. There are numerous restaurants lined up on the street that serve the freshest crabs, fish, shellfish, and more!
Pro tip:
Since there are a lot of restaurants to choose from here, choosing one could get quite overwhelming. And because of that, we’d like to recommend to you our favorite – Sing Kee Seafood, a restaurant also recommended by Michelin! Make sure to ask for an al fresco seating if you want to enjoy your food with beautiful ocean views.
18. Aberdeen Fishing Village

One of the things that make Aberdeen Fishing Village interesting is seeing how the locals use the traditional Chinese junk boats as shelters. A lot of people come here just to take photos of those.
You’ll also see boats selling fresh seafood and sometimes, dried delicacies. It’s certainly worth visiting even just once to discover more about the local history.
Pro tip:
The easiest (and most worth it) way of getting around the Aberdeen Fishing Village is joining the Aberdeen 1773, a sampan boat tour. Check out their website to know more about the tour.
19. Lion Rock

Attention outdoor adventurers, here something on the list especially for you – the Lion Rock. It got its name because of the lion-shaped rock by the summit.
It’s most famous for the heavenly sunset one can see once they’re at the top. Anyway, it only takes about 2 hours to reach the summit, so do note that it might not be the kind of challenge seasoned hikers are looking for.
However, the path will be quite a task for your quads – that we can assure you!
Pro tip:
The easiest way to get to the Lion Rock is to ride the MTR to Wong Tai Sin station. From there, you can either grab a taxi or walk (for 20 minutes).
