How to Get Around
Taxis – Unlike most big cities like New York and Tokyo, Hong Kong’s taxi fares are surprisingly affordable. Most of the taxis you’ll see in Tsim Sha Tsui are colored red. They’re usually not allowed to go outside Kowloon, Hong Kong Island, and New Territories so be sure to take note of that.
MTR – It’s impossible to go explore Tsim Sha Tsui without hopping on a train once in a while. Check out how to get from one station to another by checking out the MTR’s website.
Buses – Taking the buses in Tsim Sha Tsui is also an efficient way to explore the city. To know which ones to take to get around, you can always check out trusty ol’ Google Maps.

The Kowloon Hotel is one of the better options for those who don’t want to sacrifice style and quality but want to avoid paying through the nose.
They have different kinds of suites all of which offer great views of the city and the surrounding neighborhood. Other than their gorgeous rooms, they also have facilities one shouldn’t forget to explore such as the shopping arcade, the fitness centre, and the swimming pool.
You can choose to dine in their restaurants and bar, so you don’t really have to go too far to get a quality meal when staying here.

The Nap @ 11 is perfect for budget travelers who would rather splurge to discover more of what the city has to offer than pay a lot for their accommodations. If you’re out for most of your trip, we think a comfortable bed to go home to is all you need.
This is exactly what The Nap provides. They’re a capsule hotel, which means the bed is small and there’s less privacy. Some areas like the bathroom and the common room are shared.
However, you can always ask for a private room for an additional price.

N1 Coffee & Co is a great first stop if you have a full day ahead of you. Not only will you be able to fuel up with a delicious cup of coffee, this coffee shop also offers food options perfect for breakfast and brunch.
This includes eggs benedict, bagels, and avocado poached eggs. If you want something really heavy and filling, we suggest ordering their full breakfast!
Sing Lum Khui Sour & Spicy Rice Noodle Restaurant

Ever since Sing Lum Khui started their business in 2008, they’ve garnered customers from all over the globe because of their out-of-this-world soup. Moreover, all the dishes here are quite affordable, so it won’t hurt your pockets to try whatever you like.
Friendly tip: one of the most ordered food items here is the traditional small pot rice noodles with homemade sour and spicy soup.

One of our favorite things about Tsim Sha Tsui is the array of cheap dining options around every corner. This includes Wan lam Noodles, a shop that sells quality traditional Chinese noodles you’d want to keep coming back for.
Most of the items on the menu are in Chinese, but you can always point to the photo of the dish that calls out to you. Otherwise, you can order our favorite: the pork belly soybean pot vermicelli.
Piss Restaurant

Since Tsim Sha Tsui is such a popular spot among tourists and locals, you wouldn’t expect hidden gems around. Surprisingly, this is completely false with Piss Restaurant being in the neighborhood.
Don’t worry, this restaurant isn’t as weird as it sounds. It’s actually a Western steakhouse that serves hearty dishes. We highly recommend ordering the fried jumbo shrimp rice with curry sauce – pair it with fried wontons.
Market Hot Pot

Market Hot Pot is a lot of locals’ go-to hot pot restaurant. The ambiance is quite reminiscent of a Chinese traditional market, which makes the dining experience much more interesting.
Aside from 10 soup bases you can choose from, you can also enjoy seafood and meat options that are replenished everyday.
Where to Drink in Tsim Sha Tsui
Tequila Jack’s

While it’s no SoHo or LKF, there are still a lot of decent places to grab a drink at Tsim Sha Tsui like Tequila Jack’s for example.
It’s inspired by a traditional Mexican Cantina, so they serve a lot of Mexican faves such as nachos, and chips and salsa!
They also have numerous Mexican beers available that are hard to find in the city. This includes Tecate and Bohemia.
She Says Lounge

She Says Lounge is a hip shisha bar and cafe that brings a vibrant touch to Tsim Sha Tsui with its eye-catching neon signs. They even have cool graffiti walls that can serve as a background to many of your Instagram photos throughout the night.
If you want a more unique experience, try out their wooden hookah, which is something you won’t see a lot in other shisha bars in the city.
The Hair of the Dog

The Hair of the Dog is a cool bar that not a lot of people know about. It’s quite intimate with its dim-lit setting so we suggest heading over here if you want a nice conversation over alcoholic drinks.
There are numerous food and drink options here so it’s perfect for those who like being adventurous with their choices.
Biergarten Fass

If you want a taste of the German drinking culture, you should try out Biergarten Fass. As you would expect from a German bar, you’ll find numerous beer options to try.
They also have a generous collection of German wine, cocktails and spirits. We highly suggest trying out their dishes too, especially the sirloin steak with onions, herbal butter and pan fried potatoes and salad.
Butler – The Japanese Whiskey Bar

Transport yourself to the upscale Tokyo neighborhood called Ginza without leaving the Hong Kong shores by trying out Butler, a Japanese Whiskey Bar.
Originally based on the previously mentioned location, it offers an authentic Japanese experience. We also highly recommend their fruit cocktails especially if you don’t want the bitterness of alcohol lingering on your tongue.
Mini Club

Mini Club is a uniquely designed bar between some rare quiet roads of Tsim Sha Tsui. That said, the place can get pretty rowdy depending on the crowd. You’ll even find plenty of locals in this spot, so if you’re looking to make friends, this is a great option!
Anyway, they also have numerous drink options and their food is good. It’s certainly a must-visit when you find yourself in Tsim Sha Tsui but want to stray from the usual touristy bars.
Tipsy Tap

Contrary to what you might think, Tipsy Tap doesn’t really scream “party”. If you’re looking for an interesting night filled with drinks and funky music, this might not be the place for you.
However, if you’re looking to fill your bellies with delicious cocktails and burgers by the end of the night, this is where you should go.
They have an array of options for local and international beers too, so they’re also popular among the local beer scene. Expect it to be jam-packed, especially during Friday and Saturday nights.

Watch the stars at Hong Kong Space Museum

A visit to Tsim Sha Tsui would simply be incomplete without going to the Hong Kong Space Museum. This is especially true if you’re fascinated by the Milky Way and celestial bodies.
Otherwise, they have a lot of facilities anyone can enjoy, like the Space Theatre. It’s a planetarium where you can watch the dazzling stars accompanied with audiovisual tricks that will leave you in awe.
Geek out over local cinema at Avenue of Stars

Similar to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, the Avenue of Stars is where you can find handprints and statues of local celebrities who had great contributions to the local cinema. This includes Jet Li, Maggie Cheung, Leslie Chung, and Chow Yun-fat.
Bruce Lee’s statue also makes an appearance, which is one of the most famous photo spots in the Avenue of Stars.
Aside from these, the spot also offers gorgeous views of the Victoria Harbour. Try going here at night to watch the dazzling Hong Kong skyline.
Escape the Hustle and Bustle at Kowloon Park

A wonderfully green 13.3-hectare space located in one of the busiest spots in Hong Kong. It offers a quick escape from the fast-paced city and gives people a chance to take a breather.
There are plenty of facilities to explore while you’re here like the maze garden, Chinese garden, bird lake, and many more.
Learn about local history at Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre

If you want to dive into the local history and culture, going to the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre is a great place to start. It houses exhibitions about the local archeological history as well as a library where you’ll find tons of interesting books.
By the way, the site itself is quite historic because it’s where the British military base called Whitfield Barracks used to be.
Watch Chinese Opera Performances at Xiqu Centre

The Xiqu Centre is an event space where both traditional and new local performances take place. This includes Chinese opera and other Chinese theatre performances.
If there are no performances in this venue while you’re here, we think it’s still worth visiting especially if you’re in the Tsim Sha Tsui neighborhood. It’s an architectural wonder, making it one of the most interesting buildings in the city.
Join Game Events at Gala Board Games

Gala Board Games is a cozy board game cafe. They have about 1000 board games you can choose from, so you might even be able to find your childhood favorite.
They also host game events that anyone can join. Try it out and make friends with the locals!
Oh, and if you find yourself having too much fun with the board game you’re playing, don’t worry. You can always tell the clerk that you want to purchase your own.

Harbour City
