An Early Riser’s Guide to the Best Breakfast Spots in Hong Kong

Say goodbye to sad, soggy cereals and burnt toasts – Hong Kong’s breakfast scene is just too good to miss out on for stuff like that!

If you’re new to the wonders of breakfast in our city, consider this your ultimate cheat sheet. We’ve rounded up the places where we love to start off our days and we promise: HK’s best breakfast spots will make even early mornings a tad more bearable.

This local artisanal bakery is headed by the Swiss chef Grégoire Michaud, a well-recognized former Executive Pastry Chef of Four Seasons Hong Kong.

It currently has five outlets across the city,  but we’re obviously featuring the one in Wan Chai because it’s the only one with a cafe where you can lounge and enjoy your breakfast. The rest are grab-and-go bakeries.

For a light breakfast, we recommend their iconic Egg Tart. Oven-fresh treat with a sweet and creamy custard center and a sourdough croissant crust, it’s best paired with a flat white.

Meanwhile, if you have a penchant for savories, we suggest you fuel up with their Sourdough Toastie & Soup or Crispy Barramundi Burger.

Oolaa (Central)

It opens its door daily at 7 AM. Expect great coffee and pastries. Of course, you can also find traditional breakfast favorites as well as healthy mix-and-match options here.

We recommend their Oolaa Originals like the Big Breakfast and Smashed Avocado Bruschetta, which already includes eggs, pork sausages or smashed avocado, and toasted sourdoughs.

Meanwhile, if you’re after healthier options, you can indulge in their Healthy Brunch Bowls like the Mixed Berry & Granola Parfait and Fresh Fruit Salad.
