Local Picks: The 8 Best Sports Bars and Pubs in Hong Kong

Watching games in a great sports bar is without a doubt the next best thing to actually being in a stadium and watching a game live.

I mean, think about it: easy access to delicious food and cold booze, seamless live sports streaming on giant screens, a hyped crowd of sports-crazed fans like you. What’s not to love?

Anyway, if you want to join in that sort of fun, you’re on the right page! Check out our list of the best sports bars and pubs in the city where we go for a tipple while watching our favorite games.

You know a place is good when it’s been up and running for a long time. Well, China Bear has been rocking Mui Wo’s entertainment scene for more than 20 years!

Contrary to its name, China Bear is actually a British pub. It’s set right next to Lantau’s ferry pier and features an al fresco dining area, so you can take in an unobstructed view of the sea and Hong Kong Island while you enjoy a drink of your choice.

This sports bar is pretty much a mainstay hangout spot for beachgoers, hikers, and bikers. China Bear offers screens where you can catch Premier League Football games, tennis, etc.

Live sports streaming here is only available upon request, though, so if you have a specific game in mind, contact them first before you visit.

Once you’re all set to watch the team you’re rooting for, get some munchies! Their grub features Mediterranean, British, and Asian dishes like tenderloin skewers, barbecue ribs, homemade pizzas, and so much more.

Pro tip:

The real discount comes during Happy Hour, so make sure you drop by on a weekday (5 PM to 9 PM) if you want to get a few more dollars knocked off your final bill.

Whether you’re into rugby, motorsports, cricket, or football, you’ll enjoy watching live sports streaming here because the pub features five screens showing sports of every variety, depending on schedule.

And guess what? The pub also features lively quiz nights on Sundays and Mondays, so if you’re the competitive type, you won’t want to miss the buzz and prices on these nights!

Inn Side Out

If you plan to watch a game with a large group of friends or colleagues, this place is an excellent option. It has a cozy interior, spacious indoor seating, and an outdoor patio featuring overlooking views of the football pitch and golf driving range of the South China Athletic Association (SCAA).

The menu here is the same as the one offered in the Hong Kong Brewpub in Lan Kwai Fong, so if you’ve tried the food there and liked it, you’ll also enjoy what’s here. It’s mostly classic comfort food like cheeseburgers, chilis, pizzas, ribs, and wings.

Moreover, this American sports bar is famous for its extensive selection of drinks, which includes 90 bottled beer varieties, commercial and premium beers on tap, draft beer brews, dessert-inspired beers, and so much more. Oh, and the peanuts are free.

Pro tip:

Unlike its former location in Sunning Centre, Inn Side Out in Happy Valley can be hard to find because there’s not much signage around the place and it’s in a hidden spot.

However, once you reach the SCAA, you can more or less find where the pub is due to the flock of patrons and sports fans enjoying themselves on the outdoor patio.

One of the best draws here is the pub’s drink selection. Delaney’s takes pride in offering premium porters, trailblazer cocktails, craft beers, and whisky – and of course, the famous Guinness.

The pub also offers Grand Irish Breakfasts, Sunday Roasts, and other tasty dishes like shepherd’s pie, tapas, and Yorkshire pudding. And yes, Delaney’s also has a dedicated menu for children, just in case the kids want to come and watch the game from the pub with you.
