Pros

  • Food is served in large portions
  • Two locations
  • Long operating hours

Cons

  • Relatively expensive food

Burger Joys is a restaurant with two locations in Hong Kong: one in Wan Chai and another in Sai Ying Pun.

We like both branches because they have long operating hours, especially the one in Wan Chai that is open until 2 in the morning.

Another thing we like about Burger Joys is their wide selection of burgers and side dishes. The restaurant offers some of the biggest burgers in Hong Kong we have seen, especially its double cheeseburger made with two black Angus beef patties.

Burger Joys also serve vegan options, such as its mushroom burger. We tasted what they offered and were pleasantly surprised with the flavour, juiciness, and freshness.

We also couldn’t complain about the taste and texture of the fries. If you prefer other side dishes, Burger Joys also offer

However, it is worth noting that Burger Joys’ food can be expensive. The single burger costs $100, and each serving of side dishes costs $40, so you can expect to pay upwards of $200 if you want a full meal.

Still, we believe that the large portion sizes and the delicious food make the high price worth it.

2. Shake Shack

Pros

  • Multiple locations
  • Relaxing ambience
  • Over a dozen burgers to choose from

Cons

  • Frequent long queues

Shake Shack is a burger restaurant that began in New York in 2001. Now, it has multiple locations worldwide, with seven branches in Hong Kong.

These branches are open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, which is great for getting a meal when convenient.

One of the things we like about Shake Shack is its extensive menu. The restaurant offers 18 different burgers in addition to its numerous drinks and side dishes.

The burgers are delicious, especially the SmokeShack burger with soft buns and perfectly cooked, juicy patties. The sauces tasted just right, and the vegetables were fresh, making the meal taste better.

However, it is worth noting that you should eat the food you order immediately. The fries tend to get soggy quickly – though that’s a minor setback at best. After all, who really thinks snarfing down fries is a problem?!

Anyway, we also enjoyed Shake Shack’s ambience. Their branch in the IFC Mall has a spacious open terrace that gets cool breezes and a breathtaking view of the harbour.

Although there is a lot of seating space, some of the customers we talked to said that Shake Shack gets long queues often due to its popularity. We found that to be true, as we also had to wait a while before we got to order during our visit.

Another thing we like about Shake Shack is its pricing. Despite the high-quality food and myriad menu options, the restaurant offers some of the most reasonably priced burgers in Hong Kong, starting at $63.

Pros

  • A dozen burger options
  • Burgers and sides are served in large portions
  • Four different locations

Cons

  • Relatively expensive burgers
  • Frequently long queues

HONBO is a restaurant that opened in Wan Chai in 2017 and has since opened three other chains in Hong Kong. The burger chain gets its meat from Winsconsin, USA, which gives each serving a distinct taste and texture compared to other restaurants.

One of the things we like about HONBO is its diverse menu served in large portions. HONBO serves some of the most unique burgers in Hong Kong, such as the enormous soft-shelled crab burger and scallop burger.

The restaurant’s food starts at $88, a reasonable price given that the burgers are fresh and delicious. Still, more special burgers can reach up to $180, which is expensive but worth the try.

In addition to its extensive selection of burgers, HONBO also serves ten different side dishes. The fries are the most notable, as they are completely covered in cheese.

We also liked the venue since it gave off a relaxing and chill vibe. However, the restaurant can get packed quickly, according to one of HONBO’s regular customers.

As such, we recommend coming in earlier than the crowd or waiting until after the lunch rush before visiting.

Pros

  • Wide restaurant with plenty of seating
  • Uses grass-fed, hormone-free beef
  • Quick and efficient service

Cons

  • Highly expensive food

Beef & Liberty is a restaurant that specialises in burgers in Hong Kong. Beef & Liberty started its first branch in Hong Kong in 2014 and has since added more locations.

One of the things we like about Beef & Liberty is that it uses Australian, grass-fed, hormone-free beef, which is wonderful news for those who enjoy organic meat in their food.

We also like that the restaurant offers a dozen different burgers, with a third being vegetarian or vegan options. Although the food is pricey, Beef & Liberty makes up for it by serving high-quality, delicious, juicy, and well-cooked burgers.

In addition to the delicious food, we also enjoyed the restaurant’s venue, which had plenty of indoor seating. There are also a handful of comfortable outdoor seats for those that prefer fresh air.

Our overall dining experience was made even better by the restaurant’s attentive staff, which promptly took our orders. We were pleasantly surprised at the speed at which they had our food delivered to our table.

All in all, Beef & Liberty is an amazing place to get a satisfying and filling burger; however, be wary of the price, as you could easily spend $200 per person.

Pros

  • Relatively affordable burgers and menu items
  • Cosy and comfortable ambience
  • Impeccable service

Cons

  • Limited burger options
  • No table reservations

Burger Circus is a restaurant reminiscent of classic diners in the United States.

One of the things we like about Burger Circus is its venue, which is small yet comfortable and homely.

We also appreciated the attentive and friendly service, where the staff felt like old friends due to how much they chatted, just like how diners are in the movies.

Of course, the main highlight is the burgers they serve. Burger Circus has some of the most limited varieties of burgers in Hong Kong, but the taste makes up for it.

The buns were soft, the patties were well-cooked, and the milkshakes were rich and delicious. The best part is that these food items are relatively more affordable, starting at $98 for the burgers and $40 for the sides.

Despite offering affordable food, the restaurant did not seem to sacrifice the quality of the meals they served because they tasted fresh, especially the fries.

However, do note that Burger Circus is a small place and may get flooded with visitors during lunch hour. You would have to get to the location early since they do not allow reservations and operate only on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pros

  • Variety of burger options
  • Homemade burger and buns
  • Climate-friendly options available
  • Nice vibes

Cons

  • Small space

Smash’d is one of out favourite burger joints and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add them to this list!

We love how they make the tastiest, best homemade burgers using the finest quality ingredients.

If you’re particular about the meat you eat, we’ll have you know that their burgers are made with grass fed hormone free beef!

Not only is their burger homemade, so are their sesame seed buns. And they’re absolutely delicious!

Their beef tastes delectable and there’s a lot of juiciness in their burger.

We like how they have climate-friendly options like vegetarian burgers made from carbon neutral plants, as well as sustainable seafood & hormone free poultry.

Besides their burgers, they have fries, wings, and salads. Plus, they have various drink options to pair with their scrumptious burgers.

Despite being a small space, we still find it a good place to chill and just hang!

Pros

  • Made of high quality ingredients
  • Patties made of Certified Angus Beef
  • Relatively affordable prices
  • Nice and cozy place

Cons

  • Tiny place

Power Burger is another one of our favourite joints in Hong Kong!

Here the burgers patties are made of Certified Angus Beef, and burgers are created with finishing touches of a sesame seed bun, scratch burger sauce and good old American cheese.

All their ingredients are of the highest quality so there’s nothing cheap about these burgers.

Our mouths start to water just by thinking about their menu which includes a Power Burger, Power Cheese Burger, Double Cheese Burger, Power Smash, Max Power Smash, The Ultimate Smash, and more!

We think their prices are relatively affordable, but these burgers taste absolutely delicious.

The place is nice and cozy, but there’s not a lot of seats available in the restaurant.

We like the service of the place as well, which adds to the experience.

We think it’s worth the visit despite it being a tiny space.
