Pros

  • Offers free 20-minute initial consultation
  • Caters to all age groups
  • Professional membership with the Hong Kong Society of Counselling and Psychology

Cons

Sakura Counselling immediately caught our attention when we were curating this list, largely due to the highly regarded Tamsyn Rippon behind it. Her impressive credentials quickly instilled confidence in what she had to offer.

Tamsyn Rippon holds master’s degrees in both counselling and education. She is also a member of the Hong Kong Society of Counselling and Psychology. Additionally, she is trained in numerous psychotherapy techniques, including Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

One of the standout aspects of Rippon’s practice is her ability to cater to all age groups, including adults, teens, parents, and families. This versatility suggests that she understands the varied emotional struggles people face throughout their lives. Her services cover a range of issues such as difficult relationships, unhealthy habits, and low self-esteem.

Another highlight of Sakura Counselling is the free 20-minute initial consultation with Rippon, which we see as a valuable opportunity for clients to get acquainted with her approach before committing to her services.

Rippon’s practice offers both online and in-person counselling, tailoring therapy to meet the unique needs of each individual. Her wide range of therapeutic services, combined with a caring approach, ensures that clients receive comprehensive support. The comfortable office space further enhances the therapeutic experience.

Contrary to our initial expectations, we found her pricing to be quite affordable for the industry. Despite the slight concern about cost, the level of expertise and personalized care provided by Tamsyn Rippon makes her one of the most credible relational therapists in Hong Kong.

Furthermore, Sakura Counselling hosts workshops in collaboration with other professionals, offering a holistic approach to supporting mental health. Overall, if you’re seeking reliable and compassionate therapy in Hong Kong, Sakura Counselling is an excellent choice.

Pros

  • Features several psychologists and counsellors
  • Wide variety of services
  • Multilingual options

Cons

  • Pricey rates
  • Almost always fully booked

Central & Stanley Wellness is one of those places that offers a myriad of services that cater to people with different kinds of emotional and physical issues. This being said, we were still impressed to see just how varied these offerings were.

From counselling to massages, acupuncture and more, they feature just about everything to counteract whatever the client may be having issues with. For this review, however, we’ll focus on their psychology and counselling services.

The first thing we wanted to highlight was their value for talk therapy. They highly believe that this kind of therapy alone could create positive changes in people’s relationships, and quite frankly, we couldn’t agree more.

One of the biggest things we’ve noticed with Central & Stanley Wellness is their inclusivity, which comes in the form of their multilingual counsellors. We thought that having this diversity was brilliant and something that we hope to see more today.

As for its drawbacks, we could only really name two: slightly pricey rates and the difficulty of booking a schedule. The former is already expected since a service like this is unfortunately expensive.

Being hard to book a schedule, however, is a good problem for them but a frustrating issue for potential clients. On one side, one could see this as a testament to the quality of the services, but at the same time, potential clients can grow tired of waiting.

Pros

  • Evidence-based therapy solutions
  • Features multiple branches across Hong Kong
  • Talented team

Cons

  • Mainly focuses on children and adolescent

As soon as we learned about SPOT, we immediately knew that they’re the place to call for those looking to develop their child’s relationship-building abilities. It’s not hard to see why though, as they’re considered Hong Kong’s leading children’s therapy centre.

We didn’t want to be persuaded by this claim alone though, so we had to dig deeper, and fortunately, we did. One of the things we found out about them was that they feature an amazing team of child and adolescent clinical psychologists in Hong Kong.

They also follow something called “evidence-based” nurturing, which we discovered to be a neat technique. Basically, they apply the best possible practices based on the latest research to help create a nurturing environment for the children.

Additionally, they also offer counselling services to help children and adolescents with problems such as anxiety, stress, family problems and more in a non-judgemental space.

It’s also worth noting that SPOT has multiple clinics across Hong Kong, making it more convenient for their clients to approach one of their professionals.

Of course, the only downside with this clinic is that it only caters to children and adolescents. If you’re not looking for any type of counselling for you or other adults you know, however, this is still a solid choice!

Pros

  • High qualifications and ethical standards of therapists
  • Use of evidence-based techniques and mindfulness practices
  • Extensive expertise in handling complex relational issues

Cons

Inner Compass is a distinguished psychotherapy and trauma practice based in Hong Kong, renowned for its high standard of psychological therapies delivered by a team of internationally qualified professionals. Among their many services, their relational therapists stand out, offering specialized care for couples, families, and individuals facing relational challenges. These therapists utilize a blend of Western evidence-based practices and Eastern philosophies, providing a holistic and personalized approach to therapy.

We like that these therapists are adept at addressing a wide range of concerns, from intimacy and trust issues in couples to familial stress and interpersonal conflicts. Their eclectic and integrative approach ensures that therapy is tailored to the unique needs of each client, promoting effective and lasting solutions. The use of evidence-based techniques like CBT and DBT, combined with mindfulness and meditation, provides a comprehensive toolkit for addressing relational challenges.

Furthermore, each therapist at Inner Compass holds at least a Master’s degree, with many possessing Doctorates and additional certifications in specialized areas. This ensures that clients receive care from highly knowledgeable and experienced professionals. The therapists’ membership in accredited psychological associations guarantees adherence to rigorous ethical guidelines, fostering a safe and trustworthy therapeutic environment.

However, there are some potential drawbacks to consider. The high demand for such specialized and qualified therapists can lead to limited availability, potentially resulting in longer wait times for appointments.

In conclusion, Inner Compass offers exceptional relational therapy services through a team of highly qualified and experienced therapists. Their integrative approach, combining Western and Eastern practices, provides a thorough and effective means of addressing relational issues.

Pros

  • Caters for the whole family
  • Wide array of services
  • Talented team of registered and licensed psychologists

Cons

  • Pricey fees
  • Limited operating hours

As family men ourselves, I instantly gravitated towards MindnLife when I discovered that they offer services that cater to the entire family. From children to teens, adults and parents, they offer therapy services that can help them with their relational problems.

What further led us to believe in MindnLife is its talented team of psychologists and counsellors.

Not only are they licensed and registered, but they have over 70 years of experience between them, making them some of the most credible professionals in HK. If you’re like us and you take years of experience seriously, this is such a glaring green flag.

Licences and longevity aside, what we’ve grown to love about this team is their efforts to individualise care for their clients. They’ve stated that their therapists recognise each client uniquely, and based on our interviews and surveys, this is true!

Aside from helping those who struggle to create healthy relationships, they also lend their expertise to everyday issues that usually fly under the radar. This includes stress management, social anxiety, communication skills, anger management, etc.

The only things we weren’t fans of regarding their services were their limited operating hours and slightly pricey rates.

Overall, we can still MindnLife as a reliable and credible place to check out for relational problems thanks to its talented team of psychologists and quality services.

Pros

  • Multilingual professionals
  • Wide variety of coaching services

Cons

  • Reports of unresponsiveness
  • Pricey rates

We didn’t know much about Renewed Edge going into this list, but it immediately piqued our attention because of its hypnosis and hypnotherapy services.

We’ve always thought of hypnosis as a bit cartoony for our taste, but we were surprised to see the success rates based on their websites and reviews we’ve seen online. Then again, this all could be a placebo, but who are we to deny those results?

What made us stay, however, was their coaching services, as we were impressed with the selection they offer their clients. Among these services was life coaching, where they promise to help transform their clients.

They claim to do this transformation by helping them recalibrate their goals, identify their passions and of course, improve their relationships with other people.

The only thing we were disappointed with was their slow response time to online inquiries. We get that it probably means that they’re doing well, but we hope they can find a way to make their online channels much more accessible.

Their coaching rates were also a bit too expensive to our liking, so there’s that factor as well. We guess you’ll get what you’re paying for though, as you’ll be partnered with one of their professional coaches, some of whom are multilingual!
