A great example of a private centre is PULSE clinic. PULSE is open daily and offers a variety of confidential screening packages to determine a wide range of diseases.
They are also LGBTQ+ friendly, which is a plus. However, the clinic’s service price may be its biggest downside and may deter some clients from getting their services in the first place.
When should you get tested for STDs?
The answer here depends on how sexually active you are. If you have one partner or do not engage in sexual activity, you may not need to get tested for STDs at all.
However, if you are sexually active, have sex with new or multiple partners, or engage in any other activity that puts you at risk of getting a sexually transmitted infection, then you should consider getting tested annually.
The main STDs you should watch out for are gonorrhoea and chlamydia since these are the most common infections a person can get from being sexually active.
You should also get yourself tested for diseases once you experience symptoms like unusual discharge, painful urination, lumps or rashes around the genitals, and other similar signs.
However, it is crucial to note that you can also get diseases and infections even if you abstain from sexual intercourse. Those at risk include people who practice sharing needles and body piercings.
There is nothing wrong with body modification and tattoos, as long as you get them from reputable and professional tattoo shops and parlours. With that in mind, you should immediately get tested if you start experiencing common STD symptoms after engaging in unhygienic body modification practices.
