With over two decades of experience in the field of psychiatry, you can be assured that Dr. Ronnie is qualified and competent. He used to work for the National Health Service in London and Hospital Authority in Hong Kong, but now runs his own private practice.

We wish his accomplishments were written on his website, though. For the uninitiated looking for a psychiatrist, you’d want as much information on them as possible.

What’s clear though is he does have a lot of glowing reviews from previous patients. It goes to show how well-liked he is in this field.

Most of his previous patients commend his calm and patient demeanour. According to them, Dr. Ronnie speaks with gentle authority that was neither intimidating nor unnerving.

Upon consultation, he would ask insightful questions and listen intently. Patients say that he evokes a warm personality and remains professional throughout the session.

Simply put, his sincerity comes through in getting to know a patient. And he prescribes treatment meticulously in a way that could be easily understood.

While we’re appreciative of the fact that his practice is open on Saturdays, we just wish he would have longer hours in order to accommodate patients who can only do weekend sessions.

Walking into unfamiliar clinics usually comes with trepidation, but his patients would tell you that there’s none of that in his office. Apparently, even the receptionist was friendly and nice to chat with.

MindPro Psychological Medicine Centre prides themselves on adopting a holistic approach when it comes to giving a comprehensive treatment for their patients, which we like. 

They believe that mental health problems are caused by a range of factors that include physical, psychological, social, and even spiritual beliefs.

With this, they practise evidence-based medicine, which basically means that the solutions they come up with are based on the latest clinical studies.

Dr. Ricci Chang is their current Medical Director. He has been practising psychiatry for over a decade and has treated hundreds of those who sought his services.

We’re certain his wealth of experience is one of the reasons why he comes highly-recommended by previous patients. And while that’s a good thing, the downside is he comes with a long waiting line for new patients.

But most of them would tell you that Dr. Chang is well-worth the wait. Evidently, he is attentive, perceptive, and offers sound insight to topics that have been discussed. 

Given that it’s his job to listen, it comes greatly appreciated how genuine he is in going the extra mile for his patients. They say that he also has a great sense of humour – which we think is always a nice thing to find in doctors! 

Heartful Medical Centre specialises in treating emotional illnesses, sleep problems, adult concentration problems, ADHD, cognitive dysfunction, drinking problems, and more.

With the pandemic, they adapted to patients who would rather not leave their homes by offering online diagnoses. This is a big plus in our book, considering that not every clinic does this.

We were also extremely impressed that they had a WhatsApp chat pop up on their website where appointments can easily be set. The response time was less than five minutes!

The clinic itself has a cordial atmosphere. A bit on the smaller side, but it’s comforting and welcoming – the kind of look and feel that can immediately put anxious or burdened clients at ease.

Dr. Ho Ho Yin is known to be warm and extremely professional. He listens attentively and carefully explains his prescribed treatment and medications.

His professional qualifications and educational background were listed on the website, so it greatly added a sense of credibility. 

But even without that, we heard that Dr. Yin is self-assured and displays expertise in simplifying complex terms for better patient comprehension.

His professional fee is relatively high compared to others, but we think it’s worth shelling out for considering the excellent service they seemingly give patients.

Dimensions Center is one of the more known psychiatric and psychotherapy clinics in Hong Kong. Their roster of service providers include clinical psychiatrists and psychologists, counselors, therapists, and more.

Among them is Dr. Wai-Him Cheung who has more than a whopping 20 years of experience as a psychiatrist; and whose professional expertise goes beyond the four walls of the clinic.

He is a part-time lecturer in The Chinese University of Hong Kong and University of Hong Kong. He has also delivered several talks and is heavily involved in training of social workers and teachers.

What’s notable about him is his warm personality that allows patients to relax and be comfortable around him. We again reiterate that during a session, it’s important to feel heard. 

Based on what we’ve heard, that’s the overall vibe patients get from Dr. Cheung. He’s pleasant to talk to and is very humble amidst his many achievements.

His other services include medication assessment and management on several conditions such as anxiety, mood disorders, dementia, ADHD, and psychotic disorders, and more.

In our experience, it’s better to call them directly for a quicker response as they took quite a long time to get back to us via email.

Having been a psychiatrist for over 15 years, Dr. Gordon Wong has had a considerable amount of experience treating patients from all ages. We like that he is big on talking therapies, which he claims is a major interest of his. 

He also offers assessment and treatment on insomnia, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, substance abuse, and many more.

His wide scope of services are all listed on his website, which we appreciated. It’s helpful to note that part of his services includes admission and consultation in many private hospitals.

Dr. Wong is keen on providing a safe and supportive environment for all his patients; and they would agree.

More than the simplicity of the space, it’s his welcoming demeanour that makes the visit so lovely for frequent and first-time patients. According to them, he is kind, reassuring, and not at all intimidating. 

We have to commend the location of the clinic, by the way. It’s located at East Point Centre in Causeway Bay, which was super easy to find and very accessible through public transportation.

Like all doctors on this list, Dr. Wong displays immense professionalism and expertise. His patients say that they feel comfortable throughout the consultation and even have a pleasant time chatting with him after.
