That said, finding the perfect dog-friendly park in Hong Kong can be overwhelming. So, in this guide, we’ll take a closer look at the best dog-friendly parks in Hong Kong. This way, you, your family, and your pup can make the most of your next outdoor adventure!
1. Kwun Tong Ferry Pier Square Pet Garden

Known among locals for its very spacious grassy area, Kwun Tong Ferry Pier Square Pet Garden has made a space convenient for all dog lovers.
They offer amenities that will make fur parents’ lives much easier like dog waste collection bins, a drinking fountain, garden benches, a hand-washing facility, and of course, an amenity lawn where pets can roam.
Pro tip:
We recommend watching your dog at all times. While there’s a fence at the lawn area, it’s quite low, making it easy for pets to jump over it.
2. Cyberport Waterfront Park

While not made especially for pets, Cyberport Waterfront Park is known for being dog-friendly. It offers plenty of space where they can roam while you appreciate the beautiful waterfront views.
We like going here if we also want to go on a scenic stroll or having a picnic with our pups. Moreover, families with kids will also have an enjoyable time here because there’s a playground in the area.
Pro tip:
We find it quite convenient to bring our dogs here because there are a lot of opportunities to shop in the nearby buildings. There are several boutiques, supermarkets, and more to explore.
3. Man Cheong Street Park Pet Garden

The pet owners you see around this area are usually the ones living in nearby buildings. That’s why you might notice that the Man Cheong Street Park Pet Garden has its own tight-knit community that’s quite welcoming to outsiders.
That’s why if you’re up for a chat with fellow fur parents, it’s most likely you’ll be able to make new connections here. Another perk to taking your fur babies to this park is that there’s plenty of space to frolic in because it’s one of the biggest dog parks in Hong Kong.
Pro tip:
Since the Man Cheong Street Park Pet Garden is around a neighborhood, we find it best to make sure that your pups don’t make too much noise to avoid disturbing the residents.
4. Butterfly Valley Road Pet Garden

This one is positioned underneath a bridge, which means that there’s sufficient shelter if it’s raining. Moreover, since there’s plenty of shade, the pavement won’t be too harsh for your dog’s paws during sunny days!
Whenever we go here, there are usually a couple of people playing with their dogs. That said, it still doesn’t get too crowded because there’s ample space for everyone. Oh, and there’s also a pet’s activity area, dog’s waste collection bin, dog drinking fountains, and more.
Pro tip:
There’s a great restaurant nearby that you ought to try out – The Salted Pig. There’s outdoor seating where you can sit with your dogs. Their margherita handmade pizza and spinach with ricotta ravioli are to die for! It’s an easy 8 minute walk from the Butterfly Valley Road Pet Garden. Refer to Google Maps for directions.
5. Wan Po Road Pet Garden

The Wan Po Road Pet Garden is one of the biggest dog parks in Hong Kong. That’s why we find it perfect for dogs of all sizes or for those who want a cool, relaxing place to jog or exercise with their furry friends.
It’s right next to the Tseung Kwan O South Waterfront Promenade so it also offers a scenic view of the ocean and the iconic Hong Kong skyline.
Pro tips:
While there are plenty of upsides to choosing this dog park, do make sure to check your weather app for any signs of rain because there’s no shelter from the rain nearby. For a more scenic trip, we recommend staying until sundown. The dog park also offers a chance for visitors to get a fantastic view of the sunset!
6. Lam Tei Pet Garden

Ever since the Lam Tei Pet Garden redecorated their park, it became much more convenient for dog parents to bring their pets here. There are now seats where you can rest and a parking space that takes payment from your Octopus Card.
Do note however, that we still think it isn’t designed for you to hang out in for a long time because of the lack of public toilets. That said, a lot of people do end up lingering here because it’s one of the parks under a bridge, giving people and pups shelter from inclement or scorching weather.
Pro tip:
We find that this park doesn’t get too crowded and doesn’t run out of parking spaces. If you want a more quiet setting to take your dog to, the Lam Tei Pei Garden is a great option.
7. West Kowloon Waterfront and Art Park

The West Kowloon Waterfront and Art Park is one of our personal favorites on this list. While they’re two different spots, we decided to group them together because they’re right next to each other.
Anyway, both of them offer a stunning view of the harbour and the Hong Kong skyline and a lush green space, so be sure to bring a camera with you! Moreover, there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and activities to do nearby. It’s great for a full family day!
Pro tips:
If you’re interested in attending some events that the Art Park hosts every now and then, you can check out the West Kowloon website to be on the lookout. An example of an event they host here is the freespace weekly gigs. This happens on Fridays and Saturdays, so you can enjoy live music while chilling on the grass.
Check out the Art Park food trucks if you want a variety of food options. As of writing, there are 6 food trucks available where you can purchase stuff such as local dishes, ice creams, pineapple buns, burgers, and more!
8. Quarry Bay Promenade Pet Garden

Offering a 3,000 square meter open space, the Quarry Bay Promenade Pet Garden is a charming spot to take your dog for a walk.
Being right next to the promenade, there’s a great view of the harbour and the Hong Kong skyscrapers.
For your convenience, there’s a nearby car park and a covered patio for rest.
If you’re comfortable, you can even let your dogs off the leash here, especially inside the play area. However, do note that some dog owners leave the gate open, so be sure to keep on the lookout of your dog!
Pro tip:
We find that this isn’t the ideal dog park during the summer if your dog isn’t wearing anything to protect their paws from the heat. However, don’t let it discourage you if you want to try walking your pets here. There are plenty of options out there that would protect their paws… like paw wax!
9. Tsuen Wan Park

Tsuen Wan Park is a water-themed dog park. You can find several fountains all over the park, which we found aesthetically pleasing.
The place also has numerous facilities like an artificial waterfall, children’s play area, tennis court, amphitheater, and more. There’s even a jogging trail and fitness stations for all you gym enthusiasts out there!
And of course, there’s also a wide pet garden that has waste collection bins, a water drinking area, and such.
Pro tip:
There’s a nearby restaurant that we really love here at Happy Hongkonger that’s just 2 minutes away called the Isari Kiya Japanese Dining. Make sure to come with an empty stomach though because they have buffets! To see how to best get there, you can have Google Maps lead you the way.
10. Penfold Park

Penfold Park is a well-maintained park managed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
There would be several events that would occur here during the course of a year that’s mostly equestrian-related at Penfold Park.
During days when there are no horse races though, people can enjoy its lush green lawns and beautiful artificial lakes.
Considered as one of the most pet-friendly places in Hong Kong, a lot of fur parents take their dogs here to enjoy its wide open space.
Because of its stunning garden views, it was rewarded with the title of 4th best garden in Hong Kong back in 2009. Needless to say, they were able to maintain the same quality as it was back then.
Pro tip:
There have been plenty of white egret spotting at this park so be on the lookout for those large herons!
11. Tamar Park

Plenty of dog owners take their pets to Tamar Park because of its accessibility. With just a few minutes walk away from the Admiralty MTR station, taking yourself to this park is a breeze.
It’s a popular spot during the New Year so it attracts quite a crowd, but on normal days you can easily chill here on a picnic blanket.
Like a lot of parks on this list, Tamar Park also offers a striking view of the harbor and the Hong Kong buildings.
At night, the dazzling lights look so beautiful, so we urge you to stay until sundown.
During special days, there would be music festivals here or other events that you can partake in. Sometimes, there would even be group yoga classes!
Pro tip:
We think it’s best to go here during weekdays if you want to avoid crowds.
12. Victoria Peak Garden

The Victoria Peak Garden is one of the most beautiful places in Hong Kong where you can take your dog for a walk.
We find that it’s a nice retreat to the busy Hong Kong life. To paint you a picture of how beautiful this place is, some local couples even take their wedding photos here.
Moreover, it’s one of the places where people go if they want to see Hong Kong from a different perspective – a little higher up than usual. It’s named Victoria Peak, after all.
Pro tip:
While you’re here, we suggest giving The Peak Tower a visit if you really want to experience one of the best vantage spots where you can enjoy the Hong Kong skyline from!
13. Shan Kwong Road Park

The Shan Kwong Road Park is a posh area where you can enjoy some quality time with your dog. The design is beautiful and modern, which attracts people looking for ample space where they can relax. It’s quite well maintained, so the area stays clean for the rest of the day.
Anyway, because of that, you’ll spot several people here walking their dogs with their family even during the weekdays. However, since there’s no gate or fence around, we find it best to keep your dog on the leash even though it’s not required. Just for safety!
Pro tip:
Unfortunately, this place attracts quite a few mosquitos especially during summer time. With that in mind, make sure to bring your trusty bug repellant with you when you visit with your pups!
14. Ap Lei Chau Park

If you want to get out of the busiest parts of Hong Kong, this one’s located on a small island at the south of Hong Kong. Since it’s surrounded by waters, Ap Lei Chau was known to be a fishing village back in the old days.
Anyway, the park is quite small but there are plenty of activities you can do here aside from walking your dog. There are jogging trails, a playground, a resting spot, making it perfect for the whole family. And you’ll see paddlers dragon-boating too!
Pro tip:
Since you’re already in Ap Lei Chau, we recommend sightseeing! Check out the local favorites like the Ap Lei Chau Market (for fresh seafood) and the Hung Shing Temple.
15. Heung Yip Path Pet Garden

Heung Yip Path Pet Garden is a beautifully designed dog park. There’s a separate area for big dogs and small dogs, which we find convenient for its safety.
After all, we want to avoid your Chihuahua getting tackled by a Siberian Husky! But of course, knowing how resilient small breeds are, what could happen might be the total opposite.
Jokes aside, another reason why we love this dog park is because it offers a great view of the nearby bridge – especially at night when all the city lights are dazzling and sparkly.
