Pros

  • Has classes for both kids and adults
  • Numerous classes teaching different dishes
  • Complete amenities make learning easy

Cons

  • Booking is needed 1 month ahead of time

The Little Kitchen Cookery Studio is a business that hosts cooking classes in Hong Kong for adults and kids.

We booked a cooking class with the school, and it went smoothly. The facilities were clean and had everything needed for the class prepared beforehand.

The studio was also spacious and could fit 20 to 40 people at once.

The instructors were fun and professional, giving clear instructions at every step.

We appreciated the way the instructors would explain what to do and why to do them, which made the recipes and processes easier to remember.

We talked to previous Little Kitchen customers, and they also praised the instructors for being fun, patient, and kind, especially to their kids.

Aside from the instructors, we also liked Little Kitchen’s range of programs. The cookery studio teaches how to bake different pastries and desserts, including croissants and varying styles of cakes.

They also teach different entrees having different soups, and dishes cooked through roasting, glazing, and more.

Overall, we believe that Little Kitchen Cookery Studio is the perfect match for those looking to spend some time with family or friends while learning to cook a wide range of different meals.

However, it is essential to note that you should try to book an appointment one month ahead of time as they will have to set a schedule for their chefs.

Pros

  • Multiple locations
  • Offers trial lessons
  • Teaching is done in small groups
  • Wide variety of food and cakes to make

Cons

  • Programs vary monthly
  • Menu is composed of mostly Japanese food

ABC Cooking Studio is a business that started in Japan in 1985. Now, it offers cooking lessons in Hong Kong and other countries in Asia.

One of ABC Cooking Studio’s biggest strengths is its multiple locations, open seven days a week.

We visited each of these locations and saw pristine studios decorated with wood and stone. The clean studios have a minimalist Japanese aesthetic that creates a calming vibe.

One of the things we liked about the classes was that they only taught in small groups of four. These small groups allow each instructor to teach the students well and with focus.

We also enjoyed the fact that there was an abundance of cooking courses to take. Students can choose to cook different entrees, cakes, pastries, and even beautiful Japanese desserts called wagashi.

Children can also enrol on ABC’s kids’ course, where they can learn the basics of cooking and study how to make simple meals and snacks for themselves.

It is necessary to note that these courses change by month or season, giving you more choices as the year progresses.

ABC requires students to become members first through a membership fee that is separate from the course prices. However, if you do not want to commit to their classes, you can book and attend one of their trial courses to see if you like their teaching methods.

Overall, we believe that ABC Cooking Studio is the perfect match for those who wish to learn numerous recipes over the course of six months to a year.

Pros

  • Offers private classes for celebrations
  • Teaches how to make a variety of breads, cakes, and pasta

Cons

  • Advanced booking required

The Mixing Bowl is a business that teaches baking and cooking classes in Hong Kong.

These classes are focused on bread and pastries, which may sound limited at first. However, the Mixing Bowl also teaches how to cook different pasta and make numerous desserts.

This variety is what we liked best. The Mixing Bowl allows its students to choose their courses from the basics of baking to how to make pizza, sourdough bread, and Hong Kong pastries.

We also like how convenient it is to book a class. All we have to do is check the Mixing Bowl’s calendar to check the price, see available seating, and confirm the class date.

However, it is quite difficult to get a slot for these classes. By around August, there were no slots left for the rest of the year.

This means you would have to wait until next year for a slot to open. However, you could book private classes if you wish.

We enjoyed these private classes, which could be any of their courses or a course specifically yours. The fee for the private lessons includes the instruction, the venue, and all the items and ingredients you will use.

The Mixing Bowl’s variety of programs, friendly and experienced instructors, and clean, modern-looking venue make them a place worth considering for those who want to discover their love for baking.

Pros

  • Cozy and comfortable venue
  • Shared kitchen allows for a diversity of experiences
  • Small learning groups

Cons

  • Limited classes

BiteUnite is a shared kitchen for entrepreneurs and chefs to gather and set up small businesses. In addition to selling food and snacks, the chef community in BiteUnite also offers cooking classes to interested students.

BiteUnite is a peaceful and comfortable space in the middle of the city. It is quiet, clean, and beautiful, making learning easy despite being in a populated area.

What we like best about BiteUnite is its diversity of classes. Since it is a shared kitchen, there is no set theme, allowing for the most variety.

The kitchen offers classes on Thai cooking, Italian and Indian dishes, and more. However, despite the diversity, the kitchen’s classes are often limited to a few per month.

This limitation is especially true if they don’t reach the required number of guests they need to start the lesson.

Enrolment is easy and convenient through their website. If you wish to hold private classes, you can do so as long as you meet the minimum number of people required.

Overall, we believe that BiteUnite’s combination of diverse programs, cosy atmosphere, and patient instructors makes it a perfect match for those looking to learn a variety of international food and pastries.

Pros

  • Has an app
  • Offers basic cooking courses

Cons

  • Expensive classes

Star Chef Management School offers cooking classes in Hong Kong. These cooking classes are open to everyone, including tourists.

Star Chef offers numerous courses, teaching everything from the basics of Chinese cooking and preparation to making dim sum and baking bread and pastries.

These classes allow students to learn and create multiple famous dishes such as sweet and sour pork, roast duck, and different local dishes.

On our visit, we took note of how professional and friendly the instructors were. The venue is complete with everything needed, too.

Included in Star Chef’s tuition fees are all the ingredients, written recipes, meals, certificates and even your own apron.

The school also has an app where you can access your courses, see your progress, and other necessary notifications.

However, it is essential to note that Star Chef’s lessons come at a steep price. While the simple lessons only cost around $1,500, the longer courses tend to reach $12,500.

Nevertheless, Star Chef Management School’s complete facilities, professional instruction, and diversity of courses make them a great place to consider for those who want to study cooking seriously.

Pros

  • Small class sizes
  • Classes daily
  • Patient instructors

Cons

  • No English translation for website

If you have dreams of becoming excellent in the kitchen, we recommend Alice’s Dream Kitchen!

In their space, daily classes are taught and what we like about them is that their group classes are small. We think this class size provides more focus on each student so that they can learn maximally.

There are different packages to choose from here with different numbers of people per class and how big the space will be.

Students are also free to choose the day of the scheduled shift.

We’ve asked their past students how the experience was like and many have said only the kindest words about them. They find the teaching approach very good and they’re very patient with each student, which we think is great.

We like how there’s not much pressure in during their classes so students can simply enjoy.

One thing though is they have no English translation for their website, so it might be difficult for English speaking interested students to gather more information from there.

Pros

  • Flame Cooking Specialization
  • Collaboration with Renowned Chefs
  • Comprehensive Facilities

Cons

  • Lack of Reviews and Testimonials

Towngas Cooking Centre has been a pioneer in culinary education in Hong Kong since its establishment in 1977.

What sets them apart from other cooking schools is their emphasis on flame cooking and authentic Chinese cuisine, which is also nice as they provide unique and traditional culinary experiences.

Another benefit in taking their cooking classes is that the center regularly invites locally and internationally renowned chefs to share their techniques, inspiring students and members with valuable culinary insights.

Furthermore, given their state-of-the-art facilities, you get to experience a spacious demonstration theatre and practical rooms equipped with individual workstations, cookware, and stoves for an immersive cooking experience.

Unfortunately, the absence of customer reviews or testimonials may limit potential students’ ability to assess the quality and effectiveness of the centre’s teaching methods.
