Pros

  • Highly accessible
  • Good variety of routes
  • Offers climbing shoe rentals
  • Offers indoor and outdoor climbing classes

Cons

  • Primarily caters to more advanced climbers

Attic V is an indoor gym for rock climbing in Hong Kong. It was established by two rock climbers, Joanna and Gwie, who have done climbing in Greece, the USA, and other countries all over the world.

One of the things we like about Attic V is the variety of routes. The bouldering walls have over a hundred different ways and systems and include a variety of challenges that would pique the interests of beginners and advanced climbers.

However, since there are no ropes, some beginners may feel unsafe on their first try. Although the staff are always ready to assist and the falls are safe, we believe that the setup of challenges may be more suited for intermediate and experienced rock climbers.

Another thing we like about Attic V is its accessibility. The gym is only three minutes away from the nearest MTR station, can be reached through multiple bus routes, and has lengthy operating hours daily, which is good news for enthusiasts.

Attic V’s pricing is also commendable since they offer an all-day pass for just $150 for adults and $130 for students.

The gym also offers private individual and group lessons both within and outside, making it a stellar choice for those wishing to improve their skills.

Pros

  • Relatively accessible gym
  • Changes routes every month
  • Offers free workshops and classes to members
  • Offer kids rock climbing classes
  • Offer adult beginner classes

Cons

  • Difficulty ramps up too quickly
  • Relatively more expensive

Verm City is a rock climbing gym in Hong Kong established in 2017. Offering two zones for children and more advanced climbers, Verm City welcomes climbers of all ages and experience levels.

One of the things we enjoyed about Verm City is just how spacious it is. Their clip-and-climb park, which primarily caters to beginners and children, and their rock climbing area offer a variety of fascinating routes and difficulty levels that will pose a challenge to everyone.

The routes also change every month, which is a plus for more serious climbers that do not wish to have their capabilities stagnate.

Each wall is colour-coded, too, so you can find walls that are suited to your skills. However, we noticed how some of these walls jump difficulty levels a bit too much, which can be challenging and disheartening for newbies.

Another thing we like about Verm City is its accessibility, as the gym is only a short walk away from the Quarry Bay MTR station Exit C.

However, we recommend taking the public transit system when visiting the gym since there are only three parking spots available in the establishment.

3. Hong Kong Climbing Park

Pros

  • Offers three different zones
  • Has an auto-belaying system
  • Spacious gym with numerous routes

Cons

  • Relatively more expensive
  • Shorter operating hours

The Hong Kong Climbing Park is a gym for rock climbing in Hong Kong. Although they have shorter operating hours compared to other rock climbing parks and gyms, we still believe they have features that make them worth considering.

One of these feats is the variety of their routes. The Hong Kong Climbing Park has three sections for lead climbing, bouldering, and a ninja warrior gym, each with unique routes and systems.

The bouldering zone alone has 50 different routes to try, making it challenging and accessible for all experience levels.

We also like how they regularly change the climbing routes, which we believe keeps things fresh and fascinating for all regular climbers.

Another thing we enjoyed about the climbing park is that the walls can be climbed even without a partner. Hong Kong Climbing Park has an auto-belay system that allows you to climb almost any wall without the worry and fear of injury.

However, the biggest downside of the climbing park is its pricing. The day pass for one zone already sets you back $200, so we recommend getting their all-zone day pass since it would help save you some money and give you access to everything they offer.

Pros

  • Multiple gyms
  • Routes change every month
  • Over 100 routes for all skill levels

Cons

  • Relatively smaller gyms
  • More expensive

Just Climb is a gym for bouldering in Hong Kong, established in 2011. Since its founding, Just Climb now has two locations, with another on its way.

One of Just Climb’s strengths comes in its accessibility through its two current branches in San Po Kong and in the Paradise Mall, which are both open for long hours except on weekdays when they open in the afternoon.

Although these branches are relatively small compared to other rock climbing gyms in Hong Kong, we believe they make good use of their space limitations due to the number of paths they offer.

Each branch of Just Climb has over 100 routes that change every month, giving regular climbers a fresh challenge.

However, it is essential to note that lesser space means the place can get a bit crowded during the weekends, such as on our visit. Regardless, we still had a fun time, and the friendly, supportive staff made the entire experience better.

Just Climb’s variety of walls and routes, amicable staff, and accessibility make it a great gym for climbers of all levels. Still, it is essential to note that their services are more expensive and can set you back nearly $300.

Pros

  • Highly accessible
  • Has some of the most spacious walls
  • Great variety of routes and holds

Cons

  • Relatively expensive

The Player Climbing Gym has one of the largest walls for rock climbing and bouldering in Hong Kong.

The Player offers around 10,000 square feet of climbing space, which is almost double the size of most gyms in Hong Kong. We like how they utilise this area, as they installed multiple routes with great variety.

We especially enjoyed how each wall has multiple challenges and holds, keeping it challenging even for more advanced climbers. The space is also clean, comfortable, and safe, which is a plus.

In addition, the gym has training equipment that you can use to further work on your skills and strengths. We also like how they offer classes for kids and adults, making it easy for all skill levels and ages to get into the sport.

Another thing we liked about The Player is its accessibility since the gym is only a five-minute walk away from Mei Foo MTR station Exit G.

The Player’s accessibility, large space, variety of routes and holds, availability of a gym, and its knowledgeable and supportive staff easily make it one of our favourite rock climbing and bouldering gyms in Hong Kong.

However, the service can be quite expensive, as the adult day pass can set you back $288.
