Dai Pai Dong is what you call food stalls that you find on some streets in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of Dai Pai Dong these days.
We say it’s unfortunate because it’s distinct to the local culture, which a lot of visitors seem to enjoy (and locals like us too, of course)
Anyway, Oi Man Sang is one of the Dai Pai Dong in Hong Kong that’s still in business. In fact, it’s been in the neighborhood since the 50s! If you really want an authentic Hong Kong experience, Oi Man Sang is one of your best bets.

Bino N’ Booze is surely one of the restaurants that offers quite a unique experience. You might be wondering, “A restaurant? Isn’t it a bar?”.
We get it. It’s because of the name, isn’t it?
Actually, it’s a hotpot-style restaurant with a unique twist. You’ll find that their soup bases are infused with alcohol, which is sure to bring something new to the table.
While adding alcohol to dishes as a way to spice up the flavor isn’t an entirely new concept, this isn’t something you hear a lot when it comes to hotpot.
Pro tip:
Be sure to try their brown sugar glutinous rice cake or the mango pomelo sago! A lot of people tend to miss this part of the menu because they’re already full from the hotpot. However, you know what people often say: leave room for dessert!

Speaking of meal lovers, they also have dishes on their menu that are based on meat like rice with fried sirloin steak and marinated minced pork and sweet and sour pork with fruit.

Dozy Cafe is one of the cafes we love at Sham Shui Po. We like calling it a hole in the wall, but not for the reason you think.
This indoor cafe is located along a street with numerous shops. They don’t have a door, which is why sometimes seats would spill out on the streets. Better ready your phones, because every spot here is quite Instagram worthy!
Anyway, aside from its intriguing vintage interior, we also quite like their dishes and coffee. Most of their dishes are quite light like sweet potato fries and seaweed scrambled egg toast.
Drinks-wise, their coffee options are more on the classic side (cappuccino, flat white, and espresso), but their coffee beans have quite a distinct taste that you won’t usually see in Hong Kong.
Pro tip:
You have the option to opt for a non-dairy milk like oat milk and chocolate oat milk.
14. Wing Shing Cafe

Contact details: +852 2711 0788
Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday – 7 AM to 10 PM
Wing Shing Cafe is another Chinese-style cafe in Sham Shui Po that you’ve got to try. To be honest, we’ve recommended this numerous times to anyone who would ask about where to go in the neighborhood!
Their top selling dishes are deep fried pork with spiced salt and rice, lava French toast, and luffa and sliced pork rice in soup.
If you’re a visitor and would like to experience where locals really eat, you can check that off your bucket list once you’ve been to Wing Shing Cafe.
Pro tip:
Be sure to try any dishes under their noodles in soup option. It’s truly life changing especially if it’s your first time ordering something like this in Hong Kong! We tried everything and while they’re all good, the garlic pork chop with instant noodles takes center stage. Whether you want to try something else or you want to opt for our recommendation, we’re sure you’re going to enjoy it.
