Pros

  • Group reservations are available
  • Treatments and products personalised for your needs
  • Therapeutic ambiance and interior choices

Cons

  • Some treatments are only available during the weekends

Sit back and relax as all knots in your body are washed away at Chuan Spa. Chuan, which in Chinese means a “serene course of water”, can be felt in the calming streams of water decor placed throughout the spa.

But their identity is felt more in the treatments they offer. Inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chuan Spa developed treatments and products to restore inner balance and harmony.

What we like most about Chuan Spa’s massage treatments is that they can target specific concerns in the body through various relaxation techniques, special oils, and acupressure. This level of personalisation makes it one of the best massage places in Hong Kong in our book.

Knowing all of these good things and more about this spa, we think it’s safe to say that their prices are within a reasonable range too. Their full body massage starts at HK$1,180, facials at HK$850, and foot therapies at HK$900.

You can opt for treatment packages, too. We like how their different offerings show flexibility as they offer more than just standalone treatments.

Another plus is their location in Cordis Hotel because of the access to hotel amenities and health club facilities, including a fitness studio, herbal steam room, onsen shower, sauna, and heated swimming pool.

They also offer a Day Spa Users option, which their clients can avail of if they want to use the amenities without getting a massage or facial treatments.

On the downside, we were disappointed that some treatments are not available on weekends. If you’re just as much of a fan of their signature Chuan Body Elements treatment as we are, you might need to adjust your schedule around your spa day after all.

2. Elu Spa

Pros

  • Treatments use natural and organic products
  • Wide variety of spa treatments
  • Promos and value plans are available

Cons

  • Doesn’t have amenities you would find in larger spas
  • Rooms aren’t as spacious as those in larger spas

At the core of Elu Spa is its name, which means life in Estonian. We like how it reminds us that life is not only centered on stressful things but also about natural, organic relaxing experiences.

Perhaps that is why Elu Spa prioritises the products used in their offered treatments by using a natural and organic luxury brand called Eminence.

You can purchase these products as well if you want to take the relaxation back home with you.

Although, it’s difficult to even think about leaving this place because its ambiance is so cozy and inviting. The combined effects of warm ambient lighting, wooden walls, and their cafe’s varied menu make this place a chic Japandi paradise.

Given the luxurious atmosphere and their dedication to using mostly natural products, we appreciate that their services are priced reasonably. Their massages start at HK$990, the facials at HK$780, and the waxing at HK$300.

If you have more money to spare, we think it’s worth spending on the treatment add-ons to make for an even better experience. They even have more deluxe packages like the Signature Indulgence Treatment and the Ultimate Wellness Escape for Couples.

For those looking for good deals, Elu Spa offers promos and value plans. It’s worth checking their website and social media pages to be updated since they regularly have promotions.

However, we only found one downside to all the Elu Spa provides. Its facility is not as spacious as the larger spas, so it has fewer amenities than those in hotels.

But then again, that is not Elu Spa’s selling point. If relaxation lounges and wellness centres are what you’re looking for, maybe you’re better off visiting a spa that offers just that.

Pros

  • Has high-end amenities
  • Varied and personalised treatments and services
  • Award-winning services

Cons

  • Expensive rates
  • Select amenities might be closed due to pandemic restrictions

If you’re looking for one of the most luxurious massage places in Hong Kong, look no further than The Oriental Spa at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

Given its location at a five-star hotel, we expected luxurious amenities and exceptional spa treatments in their two-story establishment. We’re glad to say that we were not disappointed by the moment we stepped inside The Oriental Spa until the end of our treatments.

Some of our favorite amenities include the amethyst crystal steam rooms, experience showers, fourteen treatment rooms, indoor pools, saunas, and VIP suites.

We also like that each treatment starts with a consultation to ensure a specialized experience for each guest. Afterwhich, the therapist will figure out whether a detoxifying, revitalising, or stress-relieving massage is in order.

If you want a little bit of everything, we suggest you avail one of their signature treatments. A noteworthy option is the 3-hour Time Rituals, where you will undergo a customised mix and match of their other treatments.

The spa also employs the expertise of world-renowned Bastien Gonzalez and his nail studio PEDI:MANI:CURE. We suggest starting with his BGA Insoles examination to know the state of your feet and what treatments you need.

However, the award-winning treatments at this renowned also come with a luxurious price tag since their massages start at HK$1,400,, facials and aromatherapy at HK$1,500, and nail services at HK$900.

For us, how this spa may be expensive for some is its only real weakness. But if you want the cream of the crop, it goes without saying that you can’t skimp out.

4. Plateau Spa

Pros

  • Has spa cuisine
  • Has treatments for pregnant women
  • Scenic views
  • Results-based treatments

Cons

  • Can be expensive

Not many massage places in Hong Kong take relaxation as seriously as the Plateau Spa does. Since they call themselves a self-contained resort within a hotel, we checked them out to see if we could expect a resort-style experience.

For us, the cherry on top is its location at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, where Plateau Spa indulges its guests with a scenic view of the harbour, lush landscaping, and aesthetically-designed rooms.

It is noteworthy that this hotel spa offers award-winning, results-oriented treatments, and services. We are fans of their signature Plateau Massage, a 90-minute treatment that combines warm stones and Swedish massage techniques.

We also appreciate that they complement their treatment techniques with spa products that are just as great. One example of this is the Bali-imported essential oils they use to finish the Plateau Massage.

The Plateau Spa doesn’t hold back on amenities as well. Bearing the usual luxuries of hotel spas, this establishment features baths, a courtyard for culinary meals, a fitness studio, and even guestrooms called Plateau Suites for those who want to stay longer.

However, all these good things come at a cost. The most basic versions of their facials start at HK$660, massages at HK$1,040, and signature treatments at HK$1,850.

Pros

  • Offers treatments for pregnant women
  • Offers home/office services
  • Has affordable and varied massage treatments

Cons

  • Does not have notable amenities

The Right Spot may not be as big or lavish as other massage places in Hong Kong, but don’t count it out just yet. From what we’ve seen, its affordability and flexibility make up for its lack of amenities.

Upon entering its facilities, we first noticed the concrete, industrial-style interiors, and soft ambient lightning. We like how the two contrast each other and ultimately provide a cozy atmosphere.

Like its name, The Right Spot promises to find the balance between affordability and luxury. We are delighted to know that this is evident in their services and prices.

We like how it offers reasonable prices and varying treatment packages that can suit any budget. By choosing from a range of add-ons and treatment durations, clients can find the right spot between luxury and affordability.

Those on a tight budget would be glad to know that their most affordable massage starts at HK$460, while its signature treatments start around HK$870.

We must mention that the spa also offers luxurious packages. Moreover, their aromatherapy massage and facial treatments use award-winning products from London-based skincare brand Aromatherapy Associates London.

The best part is that The Right Spot offers home or office services for utmost convenience. It is also only one of the few spas in Hong Kong that is open until midnight, a plus for accessibility!
