When the sun’s out, guess who’s off on a picnic spree? That’s right—yours truly! Whether it’s a squad hangout, a family fiesta, or a solo picnic party, I’m all about it.
So when my friends said they wanted to go on a picnic recently, they knew whom to approach for ideas. Because of that, though, I took it upon myself to compile the top picnic spots here. And because I’m feeling a bit generous (you’re welcome, by the way), I’m letting you in on faves too!
Where can I picnic in Hong Kong?
In Hong Kong, you can enjoy a picnic at numerous public parks and gardens throughout the city. Some popular options are Tamar Park, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park, and Lok Fu Service Rest Garden.
For a place often called a “concrete jungle,” believe it or not, Hong Kong’s packed with green spaces perfect for kicking back and picnicking.

Tamar Park
Location: Tamar Park, Harcourt Road, Admiralty, Hong Kong
Tamar Park is like a green getaway right in the heart of Hong Kong’s busy city scene, with the Central Government Offices making for a pretty cool backdrop.
It’s the perfect spot whether you’re up for an outdoor brekkie, a chill lunch in the sunshine, or some laid-back cocktails and bites.
And guess what? It’s pet-friendly! So, bring your furry buddies along for a picnic.
Plus, its proximity to the Pacific Place Mall offers easy access to cinemas and shopping once your picnic is wrapped up!
Sun Yat Sun Memorial Park
Location: Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park, 16 Eastern Street North, Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong
Sun Yat Sun Memorial Park, near Sheung Wan Station, offers a great change of scenery from Tamar Park.
You can soak in stunning harbor views here, take a leisurely stroll along the promenade, and catch an amazing cityscape backdrop with skyscrapers in view.
If you’re up for more than just a picnic, this park has it all. You’ll find awesome facilities like basketball courts, a football pitch, and even a swimming pool.
Not forgetting the little ones – there’s a dedicated play area just for kids, making it an excellent place for a fun-filled day out with the family.
Lok Fu Service Rest Garden
Location: Lok Fu Service Reservoir Rest Garden, Fu On Street, Lok Fu, Hong Kong
Linked to Lok Fu Park, the Lok Fu Service Reservoir Rest Garden boasts one of the largest and most stunning picnic lawns in town.
It’s an ideal place for kids to let loose, run around, and have a blast without getting lost in a big crowd. Plus, it’s definitely one of the best spots for a relaxed picnic in Hong Kong.

Jordan Valley Park
Location: Jordan Valley Park, 71 New Clear Water Bay Road, Kwun Tong, Hong Kong
Surprisingly, Jordan Valley Park sits right in Kwun Tong despite its name. It used to be a landfill, but now, it’s this cool park perfect for families. Imagine a massive grassy lawn where everyone feels like they’re part of one big hangout.
It’s Kwun Tong’s biggest park and guess what? They’ve got this rad radio-controlled model car circuit that’s a big deal in model car racing worldwide.
And besides that, there’s a lovely bougainvillea garden, a fun playground, and even a maze to wander through. Loads to do here for everyone!
Inspiration Lake
Location: Penny’s Bay, Lantau Island
Head over to Inspiration Lake for a lovely picnic with your crew. It’s a quick 15-minute stroll from the Hong Kong Disneyland MTR station. At the lake, you can rent pedal boats or surrey bikes for a bit of sunny fun.
Once you’ve had your fill of excitement, unwind with a picnic on the grassy knolls, soaking in the scenic mountain vistas of Lantau Island. Perfect spot for a chill time with friends and family!
Tai Po Waterfront Park
Location: Tai Po Waterfront Park, Dai Fat Street, Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong
As the biggest city-managed park in Hong Kong, Tai Po Waterfront Park might be a tad farther from public transport, but it’s totally worth it.
It’s got some cool stuff like a lookout tower with stunning views of Tolo Harbour and a massive 600-seat amphitheater.. Not to mention, there are these huge resting gardens too.
For your picnic, the Western Garden or the 1.2km promenade are great spots to settle in and enjoy! With plenty of grassy space available, you can spend the day munching snacks from your picnic basket or frolicking around on the vast outdoor space.
Quarry Bay Park
Location: Hoi Tai St, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong
With seaside views to boot, Quarry Bay Park is a great choice for a picnic. The lush promenade within the park is a sight for sore eyes, instantly relaxing any stress you might have.
It’s a hidden gem mostly frequented by locals, giving off a cozy community vibe with a super laid-back atmosphere you won’t find everywhere else.
Afterwards, you can head off to the Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery for a fascinating dive into the city’s rich marine history.
West Kowloon Art Park
Location: West Kowloon Cultural District, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Located right beneath the towering International Commerce Centre, the West Kowloon Art Park is a sprawling green area ideal for laying out your picnic blanket. If you’ve got furry friends, bring them along for a sunny day out – they’re totally welcome here!
Alongside the harborside, there are pet-friendly cafes serving up treats for both you and your pets. For a bit more adventure, consider renting bikes to explore the park on wheels!
Cyberport Waterfront Park
Location: 100 Cyberport Rd, Telegraph Bay, Hong Kong
Situated along the waterfront, Cyberport Waterfront Park is a sprawling area in Cyberport that’s super dog-friendly, offering plenty of lush greenery. This is deal for young families and their furry pals to relish a peaceful picnic!
The park boasts vast open spaces, various sports activity areas, and an outdoor LED screen for entertainment. Plus, if your picnic supplies start to dwindle, fear not! There’s a Starbucks and a McDonald’s nearby to replenish your basket.
