HK Recording Studio has some top-notch equipment – the mics and pre-amps were fantastic, and having access to a teleprompter for lyrics was a real lifesaver. The actual recording space itself was pretty nice – it was well-isolated, which is key, and seemed acoustically treated.  

However, the vibe in the control room wasn’t quite what I expected. It felt a bit sterile and lacked a certain creative spark. Maybe some mood lighting or some band posters on the walls would lift it up a bit?

The engineer, however, was great. He was super knowledgeable and professional, and really understood what I was going for. He even offered helpful suggestions throughout the recording process, so the technical skills were there for sure.

Price-wise, HK Recording Studio falls somewhere in the middle. It wasn’t the cheapest option out there, but it definitely wasn’t the most expensive either. Considering the quality of the equipment and the engineer’s expertise, I’d say the price was fair.

Though you should know, HK Recording Studio goes beyond music recording, offering services like podcast recording, interviews, audiobook production, and voiceover dubbing. Their post-production editing seals the deal, making them a lifesaver for all audio projects.

Another recording studio my friend and I had a chance to check out is Avon Recording Studios on Jordan Street. Its retro-themed downstairs area immediately caught our attention with its vintage furniture and classic record posters. 

Now, Avon offers several recording studios, each with a different size and amenities 

The biggest one was seriously impressive with a grand piano, organ, and drum set. But we haven’t had a chance to record there, as it needs to be booked in advance.

We did record in a smaller recording studio, and it went as well as we expected. The sound engineer we worked with was professional, plus they even had a screen that could be used as a background, which is super handy for music videos or live streams. 

On another note, there was this lounge area at the end of the hallway too, with these maroon curtains that totally gave us opera house vibes. It looked super fancy and felt like a great place to relax between takes.

One hiccup we experienced, (not entirely about the recording studio itself but still worth mentioning), was the parking. Coming from the Jordan MTR station was a breeze, but apparently, the studio’s parking lot fills up fast, so come early if you’re able.

This Music Studio studio impressed us with its focus on modern amenities and top-notch recording capabilities. For starters, they have the Solid State Logic AWS 900 mixing/recording desk, which is one of the highest-quality audio equipment out there.

Coupled with a full live room and 5.1 surround sound mixing capabilities, this creates a professional environment for capturing music. To us, it exceeded expectations in terms of equipment and acoustic excellence.

During our session, the engineer’s expertise truly shone. Their knowledge of the equipment and ability to translate our creative vision into reality was invaluable – pretty good if you’re a complete beginner. 

But what truly sets them apart is their attention to detail beyond just the technical aspects. The large rehearsal space, complete with all instruments imaginable, provided ample room for our entire group to play comfortably.

Located conveniently in Central, it’s also easily accessible for musicians across Hong Kong. It’s just important to note that pricing information isn’t readily available online, so contacting the studio directly for rates and booking inquiries is recommended.

I remember stumbling upon the Record Room before, and to be honest, despite the complete lack of a website, the positive online reviews piqued my curiosity. Let’s just say the reality lived up to the hype.

Since I had no idea about the place entirely, the friendly staff was more than happy to fill me in. They even offered a brief studio tour, showing the comfortable recording space and the impressive collection of vintage instruments available for use (a major plus!).

Turns out, the Record Room specializes in recordings for solo artists and small ensembles. The. And that being said, this focus makes perfect sense, considering the space itself.

The highlight? The engineer. Reviews online raved about their expertise, and after a brief chat, I understood why. Their passion for music is just something technical knowledge can’t trump.

The place also has an impressive collection of vintage instruments, which is a huge plus for solo artists looking to add unique sonic textures to their recordings.

When a colleague couldn’t stop raving about Red Sound Recording Studio, my friends and I decided to check it out for ourselves. 

A friendly staff member greeted us warmly, and we later learned they were one of the engineers. Their offer to show us around earned a check for excellent customer service in our books.

We learned that Red Sound offers a whole range of services, from recording and mixing music to editing and mastering voice-overs for TV commercials. They basically do it all under one roof, which is super convenient.

As we explored the studio, we had the pleasure of meeting a musician who had recently recorded his EP at Red Sound. He praised the engineers’ expertise in flawlessly capturing his music during recording. 

Additionally, we spoke with a voice-over artist who echoed similar sentiments, commending the studio’s professionalism and attention to detail. It was reassuring to hear such consistent praise from different clients, affirming our confidence in the studio’s capabilities.

Despite its vintage facade, we were surprised to discover the hidden modernity within. Their control room and tracking floor were meticulously designed to meet current industry standards, guaranteeing optimal acoustics and recording quality.
