Pros
- Free counseling appointments
- Doctors have decades worth of experience
- Wide range of services
Cons
- Inconsistent pricing for different stages of treatment
The Women’s Clinic is a medical center in Hong Kong. As its name suggests, the Women’s Clinic’s services are all centered on women’s health needs.
The clinic’s biggest strength lies in its doctors and their experience. The founder of the Women’s Clinic is the doctor that handled Hong Kong’s first test-tube baby way back in 1986.
Aside from the founder and medical director, the clinic is composed of 5 other doctors specializing in obstetrics and gynaecology. All of these practitioners have been in the field for years and have gathered numerous certifications along with their hands-on experience.
In addition, we like how the clinic makes their doctors’ information available on their website, which would allow you and other potential patients to trust and get to know them and their credentials way before you enter their offices.
We also like how the clinic offers aid at every step of the IVF treatment from providing free counseling and preparation to fertilization and pregnancy tests.
Another advantage that The Women’s Clinic has its long list of services complementing its IVF consultations and treatments. The clinic offers diet and psychological advice, screenings, surgeries, pregnancy-related treatments, and even gamete storage.
The only downside is that the price of the treatment may be costly and inconsistent. We asked the clinic for the price of their services and they said the cost of each step of the treatment varies from patient to patient.
As such, you can expect to pay a pretty penny multiple times for each process and stage in your IVF treatment. Albeit expensive, we believe the clinic’s wide range of services and experienced doctors makes them worth each cent.

Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital’s IVF Centre is a medical centre with a long history. The first IVF in Hong Kong and the baby resulting from the treatment was born in this hospital in 1986.
Since then, HKSH’s IVF Centre has been continuously contributing to reproductive care and research.
The centre’s biggest strength is in its diverse roster of specialists and physicians that provide all of the clinic’s services. Their team is made not only of obstetricians and gynaecologists, but also embryologists, andrologists, urologists, nurses, and other medical personnel.
The team’s doctors have years of experience each under their belt, shown through their numerous certifications.
What we like about HKSH’s IVF Centre is that they are up to date with leading technology and research to further assist their clients and patients.
The clinic’s physicians have published over 30 international papers about fertility and reproduction and also have state of the art equipment to help in the IVF procedures.
Another thing we like about the clinic is that they are transparent with the price of their services. Although composed of close estimates, their price table allows you and other patients to know how much you can expect to pay at each step of the treatment.
However, it may be important to keep in mind that these estimates do not include medicine, doctor’s fees, investigations, assessments, and other services.
Overall, we believe that the IVF Centre’s one of the best places to get IVF in Hong Kong due to their way of keeping abreast with the latest IVF-related technology and their team of highly qualified specialists.

Pros
- Long opening hours
- Offers free guided tours
- Transparent with pricing
Cons
- Services are relatively expensive
The Union Reproductive Medicine Centre is a clinic that offers numerous reproductive health-related services. Their services include IUI, embryo and sperm preservation, and IVF in Hong Kong.
The centre is relatively new as it was established in 2000. Its centre in Tsim Sha Tsui was only built in 2010.
Despite this, one of the centre’s biggest strengths is that its team of doctors and specialists are all highly qualified specialists with degrees in reproductive medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, and other related fields.
According to their previous patients we talked to, the clinic’s doctors are very supportive and careful. The patients noted that practitioners gave detailed information and advice from pre-treatment until after birth, which is definitely a plus.
Another of their strengths is that the centre offers numerous reproduction-related treatments and testing. This is made even better by their long opening hours 6 days a week, which makes their services accessible and convenient for busy couples.
If you are interested in their services, you can book a tour of their clinics and meet with their embryologists for free every Friday.
We like how the centre is transparent with all of their services’ costs, including all necessary fees. However, being a private clinic, Union Reproductive Medicine Centre asks for quite a hefty price for every step of the process, with each costing tens of thousands of dollars.

Pros
- Wide range of services
- Public service and private service available
Cons
- Price estimates varies
The Centre of Assisted Reproduction and Embryology, University of Hong Kong – Queen Mary Hospital (shortened to HKU-QMH) is a collaboration between the university and the hospital to provide assited reproductive and IVF in Hong Kong.
HKU-QMH was founded in 1986 and now provides a wide range of fertility-related services such as assessments, counseling, and treatments.
The centre’s biggest strength is that it is a public hospital. Although you still have to pay for your IVF treatment, you will not have to shoulder all expenses as the entire process is now subsiized.
As a public patient, you do not have to pay for the medicine that will stimulate the ovaries and the insemination procedure. All you have to shoulder is the laboratory charges and the IVF treatment.
This makes assisted reproduction more accessible to couples of all walks of life. However, you may still elect to become a private patient which may cost more but you get access to more services.
Although the hospital does give estimates, they do say that the treatment costs vary from patient to patient so it may be hard to determine the total amount you will have to pay.
Another strength that the clinic has is its decent success rates of pregnancy and live birth.
We also like how the clinic does not focus on IVF treatments alone, but also offers services for psychosocial evaluation and counseling as well as gamete storage.
These services not only increase the chances of success, but also recognize that the mental and emotional health of the individuals and couples are as necessary as the treatment.

Pros
- Open 7 days a week
- Public and private service available
- Decent success rates
Cons
- Estimates only available for private service
The Assisted Reproductive Technology Unit of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prince of Wales Hospital (or IVFHK) is a joint project between the university and the hospital established in 1984.
Aside from being one of the oldest centres for assisted reproduction in Hong Kong, IVFHK’s biggest strength is its roster of doctors with decades of experience.
Dr. Cheung Lai Ping, the head of the ART Unit, has almost 20 years of experience in the field of reproductive medicine. Other doctors in the unit also boast similar lengths of service in the field, with some even publishing dozens of peer-reviewed papers on different journals.
With these specialists, the centre has achieved pretty good pregnancy success rates hovering around 40% – 50% over the years.
Another thing we like about IVFHK is that they allow patients to choose if they want to be public or private patients.
If eligible, public patients can get cheaper IVF treatments since it is subsidized but there might be a waiting period. Nevertheless, public patients only have to pay for the costs of the treatment, which are already established.
Private patients may have shorter waiting times but they have to shoulder all necessary expenses. Unlike for public patients, the price of services for private patients are only available in estimates and the costs may vary on a case to case basis.
Regardless, IVFHK’s decent success rates and experienced doctors make them a great choice for IVF treatments especially for those on a budget.
