We like how the barber shops are not only beautiful but spacious and welcoming too. However, we believe that having multiple aesthetically-pleasing locations is not the only advantage of Handsome Factory.

Handsome Factory’s biggest strengths lie in its numerous barbers. As a customer, you can choose if you want to get your hair cut by a regular barber or one of their master barbers, albeit at an increased price if you choose the latter.

We also like how the shop’s typical haircut would last around 30 minutes, which is definitely a plus for those with busy schedules. 

Most of the customers we talked to were regulars at the barber shop and often said they enjoy not only the consistent quality of their haircuts but also the personalities and hospitality of the barbers.

However, some brought complaints saying that the shop’s services were a hit or miss. They reported that some barbers kill time or rush the haircut, causing a severe drop in quality.

Selvedge Barbers is a barber shop with a completely unique look. Although the unfinished concrete and brick combination is not everyone’s cup of tea, the ambience inside is comfortable and relaxed regardless.

We appreciate how the staff offered us a choice of water, coffee, or beer as we walked in and waited for our turn. This gesture made us feel the shop’s hospitality and friendliness.

We also liked how personable the barbers were during our visit. They were courteous and thorough, even going as far as to tell us what they would do with our hair before doing it.

All of this resulted in a great haircut that was done efficiently but did not feel rushed.

One of Selvedge’s strengths is that they show their barbers’ information on their website, allowing you to know their experience and styles before even stepping foot in the venue. We believe this is incredibly useful for those who have very specific needs and styles.

With this in mind, it may not be surprising that Selvedge’s services are more expensive than average. However, we believe that these costs are a perfect middle ground between quality and affordability.

The Mandarin Barber is a barber shop in Hong Kong located on the second floor of a 5-star hotel. With that in mind, you can expect that the price of their service will be higher than most of their competitors.

A simple haircut from The Mandarin costs $480 and would jump to $520 if you choose a master barber. We believe that despite its steep pricing, the barber shop makes up for it in quality and ambience.

The Mandarin sets itself up to be reminiscent of an exclusive, private gentleman’s club. The atmosphere is elegant and extravagant, with vintage-looking furniture placed carefully at every corner.

The quality of their haircut service seems to be worth the price, too. Not only were the barbers friendly, but they were also very detail-oriented. 

Most of the customers we talked to noted how expensive the services are but could not complain about the quality haircut that they received.

Overall, we believe that The Mandarin is a barber shop best suited for those who want to pamper themselves with great service while enjoying privacy and exclusivity.

The Gentry is a barber shop brand in Hong Kong with two known locations, making them one of the more accessible options on the island. Both shops are open everyday of the week, too, closing at 8PM at the latest.

Aside from the convenience that two locations and extended operating hours offer, The Gentry is recognized for their work with men’s haircuts. The stylists at either locations have undergone training, ensuring that they are capable of delivering the cuts clients want.

In addition, The Gentry offers various aftercare products to help clients maintain their sleek looks while preventing hair damage.

Those who are interested are free to take a chance at a walk-in session, but The Gentry encourages online booking to guarantee a slot and avoid wasted time.
