Pros

  • Extensive menu and wine list
  • Multiple locations
  • Food is served in big portions

Cons

  • Highly expensive meals

Joel Robuchon is a French restaurant in Hong Kong based on the creator’s concept that started in Tokyo. Since its establishment, the restaurant has garnered three Michelin stars and a handful of other awards.

One of the things we enjoyed about Joel Robuchon is the food they serve. The food tasted superb and was served in large portions, and the ingredients were fresh.

The staff was friendly and polite, too, which made dining more pleasant.

However, one major downside of Joel Robuchon is its food prices. The most affordable multi-course meal you can get at the restaurant will cost you $880, while their 9-course specials meal would set you back $2,980.

Nevertheless, if you enjoy good food made with fresh ingredients, then you might find the price reasonable.

Another thing we like about Joel Robuchon is that it has multiple locations. Aside from its primary branch in the Landmark Atrium, the restaurant also has branches in the IFC mall and West Kowloon.

Having multiple branches means you get access to experiencing authentic French food served by the restaurant. Still, it is best to remember that these locations have different operating hours, so it is best to double-check.

Whichever location you choose, it is best to book a reservation because the restaurants can get quite busy often, especially during peak lunch and dinner times.

Pros

  • Ran by professional chefs with decades of experience
  • Intriguing menu, with more novel off-menu food
  • Wide selection of wines

Cons

  • Short operating hours

BELON is a French restaurant in Hong Kong that has earned a Michelin star throughout its lifetime.

In our opinion, the restaurant earned this honour because of their delicious food. Although the dishes on the menu are limited, they taste great and are made with fresh ingredients that you can taste.

We also appreciate BELON’s chef’s counter service, where you can get curated meals right next to the cooks. If you book a reservation for this service, you can get innovative and tasty seasonal off-menu dishes.

The restaurant also offers an extensive list of wines, which is a plus.

However, it is essential to note that the restaurant’s services can be quite pricey even if the food is good.

Another thing we like about BELON is its venue. The restaurant feels bold and modern, which coincides with its overall concept of delectable yet intriguing meals.

Despite this, the restaurant is still comfortable and cosy.

Since the restaurant specializes in fine dining, it’s only open for a short time. BELON is open only for four hours, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily, which necessitates that you reserve your spot ahead of time.

We had the chance to talk to other customers, and they praised the restaurant not only for its meals but also for its very welcoming and diligent staff.

Pros

  • Beautiful and comfortable venue
  • Extensive menu
  • Relatively more affordable meals

Cons

  • Chef can be disruptive

LOUISE is a Michelin-starred French restaurant in Hong Kong situated in a lovely heritage building.

The heritage building the restaurant is situated in is worth talking about because of its chic and elegant colonial design, which makes you feel like you are dining in a different country. The venue is subdivided into two, a downstairs lounge and a luxurious upstairs dining room.

We liked the ambience of the restaurant as it is comfortable yet intriguing, which we believe boosts the dining experience.

Aside from the venue, we also appreciated the food served by LOUISE. The restaurant has an extensive menu, which we tried most of and found to be delicious.

One particularly noteworthy dish was the Hong Kong yellow chicken, which had a crispy outside but was tender inside.

Due to the extravagance of the place and the Michelin-star quality food, the restaurant’s prices can be considered astronomical. Still, when compared to other French restaurants in Hong Kong, LOUISE’s food is relatively more affordable.

For example, you can order a platter to share with another person for just $1,200 to $1,400.

We talked to other customers, and they said that the location and food combined create a unique experience. However, they did complain about the chef shouting orders while facing the diners, which was shocking and disruptive every time it happened.

Pros

  • Beautiful European location
  • Has live music
  • Food is beautifully presented

Cons

  • Has a strict dress code and child policy

Gaddi’s is a fine-dining French restaurant established in 1953. With 70 years of experience, Gaddi has accumulated many strengths that we believe contributed to it getting a Michelin star.

One of Gaddi’s biggest strengths comes in its food. The freshness of the ingredients used by the restaurant is obvious once you take a bite.

We also like how beautifully presented the dishes are, which highlights the elegance of the restaurant.

We also appreciate the restaurant’s menu, which showcases many authentic French dishes. Compared to other French restaurants in Hong Kong, Gaddi’s offers more options when it comes to its menu.

Another of Gaddi’s strengths is its venue, designed to give off the vibe of old Hong Kong. The location is reminiscent of neoclassical European restaurants, making you feel as if you are in Paris as you dine.

Gaddi’s also has live music nightly, contributing to an exceptional dining experience.

However, it is worth noting that due to the extravagance of the restaurant, Gaddi’s enforces a strict dress code in which customers must wear elegant attire. Also, only children six years old and above are allowed within the restaurant.

Aside from the food and the location, other customers we talked to also praised the restaurant for its polite and attentive staff.

Pros

  • Offers chef’s information on the website
  • More extensive menu
  • Relatively more affordable food

Cons

  • Difficult to make a reservation

Maison ES is a French restaurant in Hong Kong established in 2015. Despite being relatively younger than its competitors, we believe the restaurant has enough feats that give them an edge.

One of Maison ES’ advantages is its menu, which provides customers with more options compared to other French restaurants. The food, too, is exceptional, as they are a fusion of French and Eastern cuisine.

In addition, the food is also somewhat more affordable in contrast to other restaurants, but the prices are still on the expensive side.

We also appreciate Maison ES for its venue. The restaurant’s use of wooden furniture and accents, along with fancier pieces, creates an ambience of comfort, humility, and elegance.

As such, we believe that the restaurant is well-suited for more romantic events, such as wedding receptions and dates.

Another thing we like about the restaurant is its staff. Not only do the chefs have years of experience and training abroad, the staff, in general, is polite and attentive, which is a plus.

Overall, our dining experience with Maison ES was great. However, it is essential to note that you should book a reservation ahead of time, as it can be difficult to get a good time on short notice.
