Pros
- Numerous and diverse menu items
- Has vegetarian options
- Open daily
Cons
- Expensive food
Nadaman is a Japanese restaurant in Hong Kong that started offering kaiseki cuisine in 1830. Now, the first Nadaman restaurant outside Japan sits within Island Shangri-La.
One of the things we like about Nadaman is the diversity of their food. The restaurant serves different dishes for lunch and dinner, and you can see them all on their menus, which are over 20 pages long.
We also enjoyed the fact that the restaurant has numerous clearly labelled vegetarian options.
We had the opportunity to dine at Nadaman, and we found the food to be delicious and beautifully presented. The kaiseki was great, and everything was made better by the restaurant’s lovely and calm aesthetics.
In addition, the restaurant is open daily, making it an easy place to go to whenever you feel like grabbing
However, the primary issue is that the meals in Nadaman are extremely expensive. The restaurant’s food costs over $150, excluding any side dishes.
As such, you can expect to pay over $500 per person whenever you visit.
Nevertheless, if you could afford to dine at the restaurant, we believe that Nadaman’s lengthy operating hours, outstanding service, and exceptional food may be well worth every penny.

Pros

- Offers over a hundred varieties of Japanese alcohol
Cons
- Highly expensive food
RONIN is a Japanese restaurant in Hong Kong and izakaya. The moment you enter, you will be welcomed by a venue so comfortable that you will not notice the time go by.
Aside from the cosy atmosphere, another thing we like about RONIN is its menu, especially its beverages. RONIN offers over a hundred different Japanese sake, wine, and whiskey, which is great if you’re feeling adventurous.
The food the restaurant serves is also delightful, albeit more limited compared to its beverages. RONIN’s dishes are outstanding but focus more on seafood of different kinds.
A few of their popular dishes include eels served with rice, flower crab, and battered smoked fish. If these don’t strike your fancy, you can choose from other grilled, raw, and fried dishes that are sure to tickle your tastebuds.
In addition, RONIN also offers a tasting menu that changes daily, which could be perfect if you want to explore Japanese cuisine in depth.
However, it is essential to note that the food and drinks are incredibly costly, even for high-end restaurants. As such, you can expect to spend well over $800 to $1,000 per person with every visit.
Nevertheless, you might find the exquisite food, the variety of drinks, the lovely ambience, and the great service worth your time and money.

Zuma is a Japanese restaurant chain in Hong Kong, with other branches located in other parts of Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the US.
One of the things we enjoyed about Zuma is its lovely and spacious venue. The restaurant has a garden, a terrace, and a bar and lounge, all of which are comfortable and easy on the eyes.
We also like that they are open daily, which, when combined with their location in the Landmark, makes them highly accessible.
If you require something more private, Zuma also offers two semi-private rooms, which we believe is a plus.
Aside from the restaurant itself, we also like the delicious food they serve. Zuma offers a wide range of meals that are often served by set, especially if you avail of their weekend brunch meals.
These weekend free-flow brunch meals are enjoyable as you get to choose from their signature beverages. The quick and attentive staff will ensure that your glasses are always topped-up with your preferred drink, so you might get a little tipsy if you’re not careful.
The price of your meal varies on the drink that you choose, with all the options not going less than $1,000. However, you can always opt for their other meals and dishes if you’re on a stricter budget, most of which only cost around $100 to $350.

Pros
- Open daily
- Offers modern iterations of Japanese dishes
Cons
- Often crowded
Fukuro is an izakaya and Japanese restaurant in Hong Kong that takes after bars where workmen in Tokyo relax. Although the entrance is unassuming, you will find the venue’s minimalist yet modern design comfortable and attractive.
One of the things we like about Fukuro is definitely its delicious food. The restaurant offers different platters of raw dishes, snacks, tempura, noodles, rice meals, and more.
However, our favourite is their wagyu sando and chef’s cut wagyu, as they are highly exceptional and melt in your mouth.
Fukuro also offers a variety of beverages, including different sake and whiskeys, which we believe are perfect for a night out or a post-work hang-out with peers.
The food and drinks aren’t that costly compared to other Japanese restaurants, which we think is great because of the portion sizes and the food quality.
However, there is a slight issue: the restaurant is often crowded. Not only was the restaurant full on our visit, but we also found out from other regulars that Fukuro is packed during weekends, especially if there are celebrants.
We also received comments from customers that said they felt pressured to leave early because of queues.
As such, Fukuro may not be for you if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet to wine and dine with friends for long hours.

One of the things we like about Honjo is the venue itself. The restaurant is spacious and elegant, boasting a chic British manor design combined with Japanese accents.
Regardless of its classiness, Honjo still feels warm and welcoming, especially with its attentive staff that enthusiastically introduces the food they are serving.
Speaking of food, Honjo serves outstanding dishes. We found the food to be delicious, fresh, well-portioned and well-presented, which is a plus for its price.

Pros
- Premium omakase menues
- Lunch and dinner options with distinctive choices
- High quality ingredients
Cons
- Limited menu
- Expensive
- Closed on Sundays
Hanabi is a modern Japanese restaurant that brings the finest Japanese food to Hong Kong.
They specialise in offering premium omakase menus that are sure to satisfy the taste of even the most discerning of taste buds.
We think they’re excellent at providing seamless, intricate Japanese flavors meshed with modern flair that’s very evident in the restaurant itself.
We like their lunch and dinner options as they offer up a range of distinctive choices where the chef brings in his signature style to their dishes.
The ingredients they use are of the highest quality, like their fresh fish that’s flown in daily from Tsukiji Market.
The restaurant seats a cozy 18 where most of the guests sit gathered around a long, elegant sushi bar. With only a limited amount of seats, placing a reservation would be a wise idea.
With the quality of their ingredients and the amazing ambience in the venue, we’re not surprised at the fact that their prices are quite expensive.
Despite being expensive, we think it’s worth it and other patrons would agree!
