Pros
- AIA International Region Awards
- Japan Good Design Best 100
- Archdaily Top 100
Cons
- Website interface is difficult to navigate
First on our list is LAAB Architects, which is run by two very talented individuals, Otto Ng and Chun Hang Yip.
Otto Ng, the firm’s co-founder and design director, is known in the field for his airy and heavily nature-inspired designs.
The firm has 40 architects, designers, artists, engineers, makers, and sociologists, making a solid team of forward-thinkers that bring their clients’ visions to life.
Their range of services covers the usual ones found in firms, but what sets them apart is their methodical approach, ensuring that each project gets done on time.
We also find their customer service to be very commendable. Each staff we got on a project with was very communicable, and talking to them was not a problem.
Their architects are definitely very talented and well-versed in their subject expertise, which brings us to their beautiful designs.
We’re thoroughly impressed by a lot of their previous works. In fact, after taking a look at their portfolio, LAAB Architects definitely has some of the most beautiful projects we have seen.
The only thing we didn’t like is how difficult it gets to navigate their website. But honestly, that’s a really minor issue that doesn’t affect how you actually deal with them once you’re in contact.

Pros
- Quite new but they’ve had good projects
- Fully certified team for a young firm
- Developed good reputation despite being newer compared to veteran firms
Cons
- Some have complaints about their rates
- Most staff are new, so they may still be adjusting
The Evolved of Architectural Eclectic, or commonly branded as TheeAe, is an architectural firm in Hong Kong that places much emphasis on environmental and functional studies in combination with their clients’ personal visions.
From what we’ve gathered, TheeAe appears to be a great place for a lot of budding architects not only in Hong Kong but globally as well.
Their team is fully certified, and although some may lack the experience that other veteran architects have, a lot of them have innovative visions when it comes to art and design.
TheeAe has a good reputation in the field of architecture, and we’ve heard nothing but praises for them, except for their rather over-the-top pricing. But setting rates aside, we’re always impressed with every project they work on.
From residential and hotel designs to transportation infrastructures, their works have that kind of oomph to them.
Their architects are also very friendly and knowledgeable. When it comes to discussing certain projects with clients, they listen attentively and spare no details in incorporating them into the blueprint.
So while they may be quite expensive, we find it worth it in the end. And it’s always good to know that you’re paying for art––something one could consider as an investment.

- Needs to market themselves better
Next on our list is P&T Architects and Engineers, one of the oldest and most reputable firms in Hong Kong that was established in 1868.
The firm has a whopping team of more than 1,600 architects, engineers, urban designers, and interior designers that operate in over 70 cities.
Being one of Hong Kong’s veteran firms, their works can definitely speak volumes when it comes to their mastery and skill in designing.
For some visuals, some of their works include landmark buildings in Hong Kong’s Central, such as the Exchange Square, Jardine House, Landmark, and Alexandra House.
Their range of services are quite general, almost just like any other architecture firm, but their works are definitely next level.
Some of their projects, for example, The Crest Residence and The Marq in Vietnam, Laviq Sukhumvit 57 and Kronos in Thailand, have garnered awards for many reasons.
We like how easy it is to work with them, and we always attribute that to their well-respected reputation in the design community not only in Hong Kong but worldwide as well.
At this point, there’s nothing that we don’t really like about them, and we definitely commend their work ethics and how they treat their clients and their projects.
4. L&O Architects

Pros

- Great customer service
- Client-centred approach
Cons
- Takes some time to reply to emails
Another one of Hong Kong’s oldest architecture firms is Leigh & Orange (L&O). The firm was established in 1874 (which we find pretty impressive) and continues to deliver designs for clients until the present.
Over the years, their range of projects has spanned commercial and retail developments, theme parks, recreational and hospitality facilities, and transportation infrastructure and master-planning schemes.
Some of their featured works include the Morpheus Hotel, Qianhai SZ-HK Fund Town, Villas by the Canal, and International Culinary Institute.
On another note, L&O is also certified under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, so we think they’re unquestionably competent when it comes to integrated quality management systems.
Add that to the extensive number of years they’ve been in the field, and we can see just why they’re one of Hong Kong’s leading architecture firms.
On the other hand, in terms of customer service, L&O doesn’t fall short either. Their staff definitely know how to take care of clients.
There are around 139 people employed at L&O. Their architects are well-versed in different types of structural designs, and what we like most about them is how patient they are when it comes to explaining even the smallest details.
And of course, their rates aren’t cheap, as with any seasoned architecture firm. However, it’s well worth every penny in the end.

Pros
- Well-established firm for decades

Cons
- Expensive services
Finally, we have Wong & Ouyang, one of Hong Kong’s well-established architecture firms. The company has had an extensive history since 1983.
To give you some visuals about their work, some of their featured projects include the H Zentre, Hangzhou Kerry Centre, Times Square HK, Chinese University of Hong Kong Medical Centre, and Galaxy Lot 1 Phase 2, Mixed-Use Resort Development.
Their range of services include residential development on a large sale, and prestigious office and mixed-use commercial development among others.
Without a doubt, they’ve proven themselves to be a highly respectable group not only in Hong Kong but in Shanghai and other neighbouring countries in Asia as well.
But what really draws us to them is the strong feeling of innovation you get from their designs. As evidenced by a number of their featured projects, Wong & Ouyang takes on a very modernistic approach.
More importantly, their highly professional approach with clients is another one of the things that’s worth noting about them. Everyone from their staff is an expert in their respective departments.
With their timeless designs and communicable approach, we’ve got nothing but positive feedback for Wong & Ouyang.
Overall, they’re easy to work with, and they’ve proven themselves in the field countless of times.
