Tribal Rugs Centre is one of the oldest shops in Hong Kong that caters to carpet cleaning and similar services. They’ve been around since 1967, and they’re well-known in the area for all handmade fabric concerns.

Right off the bat, we could already tell how careful they are when it comes to their craft. Their little store in Hollywood Road boasts a wide collection of beautiful carpets, and naturally we had to check out their carpet care services right away.

The attending staff were genuinely gentle and warm, explaining to us their step-by-step process in cleaning carpets and how to better take care of them.

We really liked how they focus on longevity and preserving the carpet’s design, as they treat this similar to a work of art.

Such is their store’s philosophy, and now it’s no longer a surprise to us why they’re well-known around the area. 

They avoid using harsh chemicals, and only choose ones that are safe for fabrics that are commonly used in making carpets.

Sadly, they don’t publish set fees, but we’ve heard about their relatively cheaper price point compared to other carpet cleaners in Hong Kong, which is another good thing.

Umar Carpets has been in business since 1993, another one of  Hong Kong’s longest-running carpet care providers.

Firstly, they mainly sell carpets from Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Pakistan – both new and antique handmade carpets.

Secondly, one of their main services is also carpet cleaning, and since we’re quite particular about carpet cleaners, we can say we like their cleaning services after checking it out.

We like how they began with  a deep cleaning to remove dust, followed by the washing. At this point, they use different methods for different types of carpets.

We were really pleased with how particular they are about using one method for one type of material, ensuring that no damages will be made on the carpet.

Hayat was so easy to work with, and he was so kind and went through all the trouble of explaining everything for us.

Sometimes this can feel like they just want you to say yes to their service, but Hayat was so genuine about what they do, and other clients have said the same thing as well.

Carpet cleaning can take up to 10 days, depending on the size and how dirty it is, but we think it’s only fair if you really want good results.

Overall, we’re confident that Umar Carpets can make carpets look renewed after every wash. Prices aren’t listed on their website, but you can get a free quote instead.

Another one of Hong Kong’s renowned carpet providers, Iqbal Carpets has been around since 1990, being one of the leading oriental rug cleaners in the area.

While most cleaners use vacuums and other machines, we’ve always been impressed with how they’ve continued using the traditional warm and cool water cleaning method – a feat that’s only done by hand.

Their cleaning process begins with pre-dusting, vacuuming, hand brushing, natural drying, and control drying.

This method barely damages the carpet and removes so much of the grime and all that nasty stuff, although it takes some time to finish.

Some carpet cleaners don’t take in certain carpets because of the material, but Iqbal Carpets accept carpets and rugs of all sorts, so we’re pretty confident in their methods and cleaning expertise.

Apart from that, they also have skilled artisans who are trained in restoring and repairing antique carpets and rugs to make them look newer and bolder.

A lot of their regular clients also commend their cleaning services, and they’ve all been going to Iqbal Carpets for years now.

We definitely take that as a plus. It can get quite difficult to find good carpet cleaners in Hong Kong, so we’re really glad to have come across Iqbal Carpets.

With 35 years of experience, we can see why they’re one of the go-to stores when it comes to sourcing and keeping carpets in top shape.

Apart from selling stunning carpets and rugs from Central Asia and some parts of the Middle East, they also offer rug weaving repairs, mothproofing, Scotchgard, pet stain removal, and other services for carpets.

To rid carpets of stains, allergens, and filth, they do most of their washing by hand, and another thing that we approve of is their use of nontoxic cleaning products.

While it can take a while to thoroughly clean carpets this way, we don’t really find it as much of an issue, since we’re always happy seeing the results they deliver.

They also have carpet repairing and colour restoration. With skilled artisans, they are able to mend parts of carpets that have been severely worn out.

Since they source fibres from Central Asia and areas that have high quality materials, we’re pretty certain about their ability to make carpets look beautiful again.

The only issue we have is their slow response rate online, which they can definitely improve on. Other than that, we think Hayat Carpet Cleaning is a commendable company when it comes to carpet care.

TNT Group has been in business for over 25 years, and although they’re generally a cleaning company, we were glad to find out that they specialise in both commercial and residential carpet cleaning in Hong Kong. 

They have a team of professionally trained technicians that do the cleaning using high quality products and equipment.

To begin with, they’re very particular about their cleaning method, and they don’t skip a single step in the process, so that’s comforting especially if you’re looking to get your money’s worth.

We’ve noticed this method of theirs keeps their standards consistent, so complaints are hardly heard about their cleaning outcomes.

We’ve also heard a lot from their regular clients, most of whom are tenants in high-end apartments in Hong Kong, so knowing this reinforces our optimism towards their work.

Aside from knowing that they use high quality products, we truly appreciate how we have the option to choose from our preferences, so it can be kid- and pet-friendly and less harsh.

Their concern for health is definitely our favourite thing about them, and on their website they’ve listed down possible diseases you could have from pests living in your furniture and carpets.

The only concern we have is how they seem to be severely underrated in online review aggregators. With the quality of their services, we wouldn’t hesitate running back to them for a deep carpet cleaning.

We find that they have an excellent collection of carpets and rugs of exceptional quality.

We’ve seen some of their work and we think they’re great at cleaning and repairing carpets, so we definitely recommend!
